Satan's Generals: John Alexander Dowie

John Alexander Dowie (1847-1907) was a Scottish evangelist and “faith healer” who migrated to the United States from Australia in the late 1800s. Dowie was referred to by critics of his time as a “confidence man”, a person who appealed to the confidence of victims using deception to convince or persuade them out of money or into submission. In the case of Dowie’s Christian Catholic Church cult following, commonly referred to as “Zionites” or “Dowieites”, both money and power were gained.

This reminds me of romance scammers. These scammers lie to their victims, making them believe all their lies . When anyone tries to tell them they’re being scammed, the victim doesn’t want to believe. Even if they know in the depths of their heart they’re being scammed, they can’t believe because they’re hooked on the scammer’s drug of lies. When a victim is in the grips of the scammer, it takes a herculean strength to break free. This is the strength only the Lord can give. This same strength can be had for those who are in the grips of the offshoots of Dowie’s lying churches.

You have to look at the times that they were living back in the early 1940s, to call them scammers then is not accurate, however, they would be scammers today in our advanced age because we have medically advanced.

So glad youv'e produced all of these videos on the so called generals of the Pentecostal type church..Have been binge watching for a few weeks now.Lived through 50 years of isms and schisms in the church. Used to think these generals were ok without really knowing what they stood for,much less what they really were. Believe these exposures are well timed and much needed

Thanks for another interesting video!!! Dowie does not sound mentally stable at all! Is he suppised to be dressed as an Aaronic high piest in one of the pictures? Very, very strange. It's so fascinating how certain people who seem to be on the very edge os sanity, like Dowie and WMB are able to gather these huge followings!!!

What makes another mentally unstable person who thinks he is God someone who has thousands or millions of followers? Charisma? Some indefinable something? I'm very curious about that. Evil and a wicked adulterous generation seek after signs , we see this the moment the equate faith with money it gets deviant quick. Jesus never one time all the times he mentioned faith never used money as an illustration. If giving money was a token of ones faith Jesus would have mentioned that but faith comes by hearing the word of God not giving money.

'Love is not Patting sinner on bak and telling him that God loves him. Love is when a mother sees a child running toward road, grabbing it and spanking. This world has wrong definition of love, that is not hate peach, that is true love speach'. That would be explanation from my preacher and father. Hard to fight such thinking

Do you call telling people to beat their daughters with barrel slats until they are covered with so many welts they can't get their clothes thes back on and can't get out of bed for 6 months hate speech? I do. Do you call saying human females lower than hogs and dogs hate speech? I do. And if you don't co sidereal those evil statements hate speech, something is really wrong, because none of that is anywhere in the Bible, none of that has anything to do with any kind of love, none of that has to do with God. Not one word of it. It all comes from the twisted, lying mind of WMB.

Hi, quick question if you know is the message bible, part of this also? Darby Plymouth Brethren was "the foundation rapture teaching and doctrine" of men. Many have built on this teaching and doctrine and many False teacher's False prophets False brethren taught & continue to preach another gospel and another Jesus. It's sad, how many have used The Scriptures to add & remove from Christ Jesus as The Way The Truth and The Life, no man comes to The Father except through Christ Jesus As Lord. Harold Camping among many told their follower's to sell all they had & while others continue to prophecy Lie's and deception to unstable souls, peddling The Word for greedy gain making merchandise out of their follower's. While threatening anyone that has been raised in these teachings and doctrines, their follower's will cut anyone that speaks against them, very thankful Christ Jesus our Lord continues to expose the Lie's and deception & hoping even today another will be set free.

Yes, He was a quack, but most of his followers could not discern that, just like in our day, many follow these false prophets and teachers of the NAR because they do not read or know their Bible. most people only know what the minister or someone tells them about God.

To be fair, back in Dowie's day people only lived to be about 50 years old, They did not have the medical treatments and medicines that we have today. One hundred years ago your local barber was considered a doctor, " Barbershops also have some history in the medical world since barbers once served as surgeons and dentists. Can you imagine walking into your local shop and asking for a wart removal, a capped cavity, and a Bald Caesar?" you can research it on the internet for more info. Many of the critics of Dowie in our day, most likely would have gone to one of his meetings for healing back in the day if they were living then, they would had no other choice like we do today. even in the 1940s, when the healing revivals are taking place medicine was still not like it is today. My point these videos are good, but they do not go into why were people going to these ministers. for many it was their only hope, Back then they did not have the healthcare system that we have today, we can look back now and call those people fools and deceived, but the facts are, it was the best that they could do at the time. most likely you and I would also set in their meetings that if we were sick or dying in the 1940s, now we would know better and have good healthcare. Amen I am retired from a Medical college, while I worked in their warehouse and mailroom and was not a doctor, I do know my medical history.

When WMB was alive, did he have anything like a private militia? I'm sure he had security, at times, like a lot of public figures, but a militia? I know Joel's Army comes from WMBs teaching, but that didn't actually exist before 1965, did it?

@@lesliewells-ig5dl From my understanding, it was his deacons at his church, and the police at meetings abroad that kept people at bay. I can't remember where I saw it, but one of his deacons got in trouble once for stopping Branham to ask a question after church as Branham was driving away. He was supposed to be left completely alone. They also all carried pistols if I remember correctly.

One of the problems that I have on here with many of the peoples' comments, is they do not realize the time period of these faith healers. My great-grandfather was a doctor, who got his training in the 1930s, he was considered a quack in his day by many, medicine was not as advanced as it is today, we can look back now and see that these faith healers were not of God, however, at the time they may have really believed that they were helping mankind. today we can see where they were wrong as well as those who followed them. but the people attending their meetings seeking healing in their time were most likely not deceived as much as needing some kind of help that even Doctors could not give them. Amen Medicine has come a long way since my G-Grandfathers day.
