You might not know it, but there are thousands of human-made satellites orbiting the Earth! They help us do everything from study the climate to make phone calls, and there are even some satellites that people can live on! How are satellites built and launched?

It's amazing how many videos you can watch explaining how satellites are launched into space. All of them feature animation normally used for children. We all understand more or less how satellites work. Can we just see a satellite that has been built, loaded into the rocket and the launch. I know there are secret sauce ingredients that some satellite restaurants don't want to give away to the competition so I understand. But I would be satisfied if they show a little bit of film. I'm sure there has to be some lying around somewhere. With the thousands of satellites magically floating over our heads never failing, falling, or crashing into each other I am just overly impressed with these great technological accomplishments. Why did you change to animation when it was time for you to show me what the video title promised? 😢

i wonder who all has satellites? colleges, private industry, government, comm companies, but how many are privately owned and how many funded by colleges, and are their laws about the data that can be collected from a satellite from another state in the airspace of another state etc. just interested in this.

liquid oxygen and either liquid methane or RP-1 are combined and ignited to produce hefty amounts of lift on the first stage. further into flight, that stage will separate, and the vehicle will switch to a different fuel type and engine, consisting of liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen (methalox has been used at least once in a 2nd stage). that second stage will then make the last push into orbit.

Uuuummmm aluminum and most metal have such a low melting point. Same with batteries. Never seen in my 17 years in the battery industry that can handle the so called temperatures of space. Not even close
