❤ Well Done Tips you should make a couple of camera mounts on the Wall in front off the mill so we can see how you change the position off the horizontal saw blades Thank You for sharing 👍

The poplar is getting ready to pop the blooms before long around here. The honeybees will be happy little buggers for a while. They pull a pile of nectar out of those pretty yellar flowers. Make one of my favorite honeys with it too. Dark as it comes with rich bold flavor. Good stuff!

It’s nice to see a face behind the voice. Did anyone tell you you have a a face suited for a radio, L O L, how long did it take you to learn to run the meal or are you still learning. You are doing an excellent job, young man, some other channels do one log and then fill it in with a conversation of some sort, but I’m watching the channel to see and hear the sawmill run not your conversation. Keep up the good work, sir. God bless stay safe. ✌️🇨🇦

I appreciate this one sir! And I’ve been hopping in the cage since I was 18, with my grandpa behind me in the cage for bits at a time. I’ve also been doing saw maintenance since I was a kid. Pulling and setting teeth. There’s pretty detailed mechanical stuff involved if certain things break. I can fix some things but not everything and my dad likes to come in before work and fix things. God Bless!!

what are the cants for? Pallets

Is that just your eyes to determine cuts or computer assistance?

hey Ian, great vid. what size do you cut the cants? also what do you do with them?
@Helmsburgsawmill2 ай бұрын
The cants are 3 1/2” thick, and I cut them from 6-10” wide
@Helmsburgsawmill2 ай бұрын
And they get delivered to a pallet facility and they rip them down and make pallets!
@marcchatterson-xq7qtАй бұрын
We cut 1 3/8 stringers out of poplar cants so we cut our cants at 4 3/4 … 6 1/4…. 7 3/4… 9 1/4.. and 10 3/4 have to account for an inside blade then 9 more sawblades
@marcchatterson-xq7qtАй бұрын
3 1/2 X 6 1/4 works really good. Cuz then you can cut 3 1/2 pallet stock or stand it up and cut 7/8 X 6 or 7/8 X 5 7/8 the gangsaw rips it and plains it in one pass

how do you get rid of all the sawdust from the mill area?
@Helmsburgsawmill2 ай бұрын
Blowers suck it out of the building into a funnel that drips down into a bin out back. We sell it to customers and if we get too much, we have people who will come get it with a semi
@Marty2Man2 ай бұрын
@@Helmsburgsawmill I also watch Mark Galicic's channel and he said his mill originally had edger blades like yours but it would blow sawdust everywhere and the time you spent cleaning up is made up in a separate edger. Mark talks a lot on his channel, i like your minimal chatter but would be okay with occasional chatter . thanks for the videos. frank

Have you considered to add a wood chipper to your sawmill. You can sell ships to ground maintenance companies or donate chipps to nurseries and thus take a tax deduction.
@Helmsburgsawmill2 ай бұрын
We got one! And we do a little bit of that
@woodnewf38472 ай бұрын
@joshuaungler. As a business strategy I'm curious as to why you would suggest donating chips to a for profit business like a nursery?
