SATU DU - Lima Datu Band | a Blaan version of Matisyahu's One Day song
The source of the video was taken during the SOCOTECO II's activity at Sitio Kitbog, Brgy. Poblacion, Sarangani Province with our BLAAN brothers and sisters who had long dreamed of a light or electricity that they would experience "ONE DAY (Satu Du)" and be electrified.
MOMENTOUS MILESTONE-A spark of new hope comes to Barangay Poblacion in Malungon, Sarangani with the ceremonial switch-on of solar home systems distributed to the residents of Sitio Kitbog in recognition of Feliza Pangilan, the 76-year old B’laan farmer, who became the 13-millionth electric cooperative (EC) member-consumer-owner in the Philippines.
This is a first for the rural electrification program of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) as the million milestone household connections it celebrated in the past were all connected to power grids.
The installation of this solar photovoltaic system for off-grid communities was made possible through the World Bank-funded Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (ASEP), which is a joint undertaking of the European Union (EU) and the Department of Energy (DOE).
The NEA facilitated the implementation of this project in the country through its partnership with the ECs, in this case, the South Cotabato II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SOCOTECO-II), which serves Malungon-the largest municipality in Sarangani.
Leading the ceremony last July 12, 2019 was NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong together with SOCOTECO-II former general manager Crisanto Sotelo and Director Mario Marasigan of the DOE Electric Power Industry Management Bureau.
Also present were Malungon Municipal Mayor Maria Theresa Constantino, Sitio Kitbog chairman Marcelo Pangilan and newly-elected party-list representatives Presley de Jesus (PHILRECA) and Godofredo Guya (RECOBODA).
