I've seen an episode where the phrase was "It takes one to know one", the only letter missing was "I", and the woman gave the answer "E.T. takes one to know one". I think I shot milk out my nose in laughter.

A friend of mine was on Wheel. He made it to the bonus round. The clue was "Place." He couldn't figure out the puzzle and when it was revealed, it was "Landscape." They went to a commercial and the studio audience actually booed. Sajak said, "Hey, I don't make them up." Its been over twenty years now and I still think that was an unfair clue.

Perhaps this is based on the "Kennebunkport" puzzle. All the letters were revealed and none of the contestants could say it correctly. It was during the first Bush admin so Kennebunkport was in the news a lot. I could never find a clip of that episode.

This idiom means "by the slimmest of margins", or a "tiny amount". The teeth don't have skin, so that's a VERRRY slim margin. If the saying was based on the teeth being made up of skin, it would be a crappy idiom.

@Bob Shanley Many people get confused by this idiom. The point is, that you cannot eat a cake and still retain possession of it. You can either have the cake, or you can eat the cake. You cannot do both. You are treating the phrase sequentially, which is where your confusion comes in. The ownership and consumption are simultaneous and mutually exclusive. xx

Fred, Amy, and Kristen are so damn talented. When they are all speaking at once about the dermatologist clue, they each rattle off a bunch of random stuff and then come up with 'moles'. The timing was great and they didn't seem to struggle at all syncing up at the end. It actually came off as natural. They make that look easy but it couldn't possibly be easy.

Do you think maybe they rehearsed the skit multiple times, because that's how the show works? It's a live show, but it's rehearsed throughout an entire week.

@@EOh-ew2qf Think about it, the sketch they're working on during the week is essentially the same one that is done live. Aspects might be changed, but I guarantee they are rehearsing it during the week. The performers are not writers. Writers write and the performers perform what is written (for the most part). A sketch like that was rehearsed, guaranteed.

the idea of this is so simple yet so rewarding, what if none of the guest can win the easiest game... a nice plus was the passive aggressive host, its actually inspiring how he thinks that they are stupid but also thinks thats okay.
