The project is too ambitious at the whims of pride and caprice of leaders. Perhaps because of insane economic envy to other Middle Eastern country who were able to create model city out of petroleum base income. Anyway afterall , this may also boast and promote gigantic tourism industry in Saudi Arabia . But the question is when will this project be done and begin to reap income while more countries today are experiencing hard life and depression due to incoming war and recession throughout first world countries .

If Arabia has so much money over, it would be better to reforest the deserts and building cities with better ecological foot print. Meaning especially to avoid to much concrete, metalls and glas. All need tremendous amounts of resources and produce huge amount of CO2 and polutions during production.

let me breakdown your comment one by one. First, Saudi Arabia is construction better ubran roads and plannings. Secondly, who the hell would plant forests in the middle of the desert? There are green area on south regions with agricultural farms so there is no need for forests but we need to plant trees and grass in the city to reduce the heat and CO2 emissions. Speaking of CO2 there is a huge projects heading toward green energy such as solar and wind power plants. You can witness one of them on the north region (specifically in Sakaka power plant).

So again China beats other regions in some avandgardistic projects like reforesting the desert. The "Line" cannot compensate CO2 crimes (from concrete and other building materials) by installing some solar paneeles. The gigamanic buildings from Arabia are quite impressive. But it is no example for sustainable development. Reforesting and agriculture in Israel style whould be more example giving than dystopia builings like the Line etc. !

The Saudi Arabia line project is more harder since great wall of china is made up of stones and also they will make two lines which makes it much more harder and since it'll be much more advanced, they will need much more expensive materials to make and even after they finished building the wall they still need to make the buildings inside of it

Designing and constructing a linear wall-like city is a bizarre concept. The amount of raw material required to construct this megastructure is phenomenally infeasible, especially the tedious strutting and reinforcement required to create a strong and stable groundscraper. However, the megastructure is not entirely useless and unrealistic for other purposes. Alternatively, the structure would be an excellent solar/photovoltaic array, thereby satisfying Saudi Arabia’s energy needs in a post-hydrocarbon world. Basically speaking, the Mirror Line is a disguise for constructing massive solar array complexes across the Arabian landscape, preparing for a world without petroleum/oil. In some sense, the Saudis are aware it’s a matter of time until their power and wealth from oil evaporates - they are doomed until they develop and construct alternative/renewable energy sources.

The Journal of King Saud University - Science volume 34, issue 1, January 2022, had a study titled "Seismicity of the Neom megaproject area, northwestern Saudi Arabia", which pointed out that "A new seismicity map has been developed for...NEOM megaproject in the north-western zone of Saudi Arabia which has experienced considerable earthquake activity in the historical and recent times." Further into the article it states: "Ten seismotectonic source zones have been identified in the area under investigation. ... Consequently, damaging earthquakes could affect Neom project, so earthquake hazard assessment is highly recommended for the minimization and mitigation of earthquake losses in this area." Time will tell whether the fantastical dreams of the moneyed Saudis live up to the grinding realities underneath their feet.
