Saudi Arabia can produce a barrel of oil for around 5 dollars though. Their electricity is on average about 500% cheaper than the USA. And the USA has cheap power compared to most. I think this might be the craziest on the list. It's like Hawaii building lava factories. The stuff literally just comes out of the ground. Casino Mecca is even crazier but this one is close.

@CharlieBam I think most of us will live to see SA’s cheap oil come to an end. They know it but they won’t admit it. That’s why they’re so keen on investing. When the easy money ends they will have to rely upon the TRILLIONS they are sitting on to provide.

Nothing lasts forever. That's why SA is trying its best to diverse its economy instead of completely depending on just oil, because if one day the oil market crashes, also SA's economy will go down with it.@@Carnutzjoe

He outlined his business and I just laughed in his face. He's spent millions developing systems that were obsolete 10 years ago. Eventually the business went bust and god knows what he's doing today. Probably working on round things called wheels; revolutionary! When I here anything about Saudi Arabi, I just think of these delusional rich people that have utterly NO idea about this thing called reality. @@MuhammadSami-rk5ml Respectfully, not ALL of it, I venture. First, A lot of Saudi Arabia's area is desert, and only desert. Second, there are indications that SA's petroleum reserves are much MUCH lower than what is currently claimed. That last may or may not be 100% true, but it is undeniable that SA's oil reserves, and the world's demand for them, are both very very finite things. There can be other uses for what is currently a desert, absolutely, but building a linear city across it would not be my first choice. Or my second. Not even in the middle of the list, comes to that.

Building mega cities (or even normale cities) in places where there isn't fresh water is just stupid. Only way is to turn seawater into fresh water. And up the unwanted biproduct (salt) back in to the sea. Of course all done with burning cheap oil.😂
@JonMartinYXD
@JonMartinYXD 10 ай бұрын
And that byproduct is actually harmful. "Wait, the oceans are already salty" people are thinking right now. Yes, but desalinisation creates so much salt that whereever you pour it back into the ocean the ecosystem just dies from salt poisoning.
@santoshNarayana
@santoshNarayana 10 ай бұрын
Why cant the "unwanted biproduct" be turned into sea salt and sold?
@JonMartinYXD
@JonMartinYXD 10 ай бұрын
@@santoshNarayana That would make the desalinisation more expensive. It requires additional facilities and work to turn the brine into consumable sea salt (and that is without considering the growing presence of microplastics). The cost of that additional work would not be recouped because the vast amounts of sea salt created would drive the price down to near zero. Packaging and shipping it would cost more than just putting it on a truck and dumping it in the desert (which would inevitably create some other problem in the future). The only way out of the trap would be if some new industrial process was developed that used sea salt as an input.
