Good video about one of the most advanced pistol in WWII. My dad, who was an ETO veteran, brought a 38H back that he took off a German medic a few weeks before the war ended. He was in the 99 th Infantry Division and the division had been moved from the Ruhr Pocket, south to Bavaria. The 99th, like other US divisions, was being moved to cut off a Nazi retreat into the Alps. The 99th Division had already crossed the Rhine and now were going to cross the Danube River. I was always a little skeptical about a medic carrying a firearm. However, Dad told me that US forces, especially after the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge, began giving medics a choice to carry a sidearm. The Germans, especially at night and because a lot of Germans spoke some English, would call out for a medic. If the US medic went out, they could be killed or captured. A sidearm was considered a defensive weapon and not an offensive one. It was still up to the individual medic. As a kid, I was disappointed that the pistol wasn’t a PP or a PPK. Now, I’m glad to be a proud owner of a 38H! Thanks, Dad!

thats a harder one to find id say the stove pipe thing may be a biproduct of combo of mag extractor and ammo

Had mine for years and never ran a whole clip through it. New main spring, extractor was nearly non existent. Found a nearly mint clip for it. Jams halfway through every time with one pointing out the ejection port. Dunno why I haven't tried hotter ammo yet. Those bakalight grips are like glass, Found some woodys for a shooter and put the originals up

Interesting pistol, mine has a crack in one of the grips which I think is a common problem. Been a while since I shot it but I think it was picky about ammo brand. Lots of springs which may be hard to replace if one breaks!

I’ll have to try some different ammo in the future, this stuff consistently had issues with the last three shots but I don’t remember that being an issue for Dylan when he did a first shots short on it a while back

@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry I may have had good luck with Fiocchi fmj classic line and Winchester white box, my notes for this gun and the P32 are identical but I know I bought the 38H as my first 32acp. I remember that GECO did not work well but I don't think that it was the only one, that the German ammo did not work in the German gun is what I remember!

Great review. Unless I missed it, you might have talked about it, it does have a magazine disconnect. I love the 38h better than my HSc. Keep up the great videos. 🙂

Thanks Thomas . It’s good to learn ! Are they hard to find and expensive?

Somewhat hard to find, not particularly expensive in the US (comparatively) under $1,000. I believe Dylan got this one for about $600, which is a pretty good deal
