Today I present to you the creation of a shell using the method of Johann Engelhardt Hermann Saueracker. Saueracker is a little-known exceptional turner from the end of the 19th century who bequeathed his collection to his hometown Nuremberg in 1916. His achievements are breathtaking in their precision and innovation. This method will allow you to discover radial and transverse excentric turning. Basically, we move the part from its axis and at the same time we gradually add an angle of rotation to it. In this video, I will take up his production technique, bringing the method up to date with current means. For example, I will use double-side tape and no longer use screws which damage the bottom and require the part to be double-sided after manufacturing. With this different clamping system, I will also bulge the face of the grooves to increase the relief by placing an inclined wedge under the stock. I am going to simplify the clamping and balancing system, the current towers on bearings better support this kind of unbalance. For the finish, I will use pore filler and wax.
