SAUL “Brother” Lyrics
I write this letter
It’s a letter I’ll never send
Words I’d never say
Would you read it anyway?
Tell me brother what’s my fate?
Did you see the sunrise?
Did you see the rain?
We’ve come so far
Penniless in pain this is my fate
The world awaits
Hold my hands and tell me that it’s alright
You proud of everything I’ve done in my life?
Are you still listening?
Oh tell me brother
Are you still proud of me?
After everything that I’ve done?
Clock is staring
With no sympathy at all
I tremble and I fall
We need answers now!
Didn’t make the sunrise
Now only pain
I’m sorry brother
I walked away
Hold my hands and tell me that it’s alright
You proud of everything I’ve done in my life?
Are you still listening?
Oh tell me brother
Are you still proud of me?
After everything that I’ve done?
Brother - Brother - Brother
Are you still listening?
Oh tell me brother
Are you still proud of me?
You said you’d never leave
Are you still listening?
Oh tell me brother
Are you still proud of me?
After everything that I’ve done?

I lost my brother on 30 January 2019. I first heard this song on Octane a few weeks after his funeral. Thank you, while the song is hard to listen to, it gives me a connection to my brother again.

ehh. well Shinedown has always had some soft songs mixed in with heavier songs so all and all not much change there. Papa Roach i will kinda give you, they have certainly change since Last Resort. But then again I have a feeling that you consider anything pop when you can actually understand what they are saying. Also good job at naming a few. Both those bands are a long ways from doing a tour with Taylor Swift. Just because you dont like it doesnt make it pop.

I've been playing your song over and over for the past month now. My son is 3.5 yeas old, and says when we are in the truck, "Dad can you play brother, that's my favorite song." You guys should come to The Original up in Minot, ND and play... On a side note, my brother is mentally and physically challenged in a disability home back in Louisiana, and this song makes e think of him a lot. I told my wife a few days ago, we need to go see him. Through your music, it helps me coup and remember him. Thank you.

I love this song but my heart hurts everytime I hear it... my brother in law died a couple days ago after a long hard battle to cancer he had been fighting for over a year. I only heard this song the night he died. My husband was driving home after seeing him in the hospital for the last time and this song came on the radio...it was as if he was trying to ask him if everything was going to be alright...the lyrics says it all... I wish my brother in law was alive to hear this song, this was totally his style of music. RIP Justin, and keep up the good music, I know you guys will make it big! If anyone comes across this comment, hug your brother extra tight and tell them you love them. #fuckcancer#cancersucks

Robert Hart Joe Nichols our drummer is an 8 year army vet. So thank you for your service and for your brothers ultimate sacrifices in the name of the US people. He also lost his brother due to an IED in Afghanistan.

This song has gotten a lot of our fellow brothers and sisters through a lot. An instant classic as far as I'm concerned. Learn to sing this song, get it exposure. You wanna prevent suicide? Relating to suicidal people is how you get it done. You can only do so much talking to them, this is something they can leave on repeat and will talk to them forever.

The first time I heard this song on Octane, I immediately went and bought it so I can listen to it every day. And I do. It immediately reminded me of my best friend who I called my brother. He had a hard life growing up and sadly that led him to make wrong choices and associate with the wrong people. Although I knew the things he did behind closed doors, I still gave him the friend he needed. The last time I saw him alive he told me how grateful he was because I was the only friend he had that never asked anything of him and I only wanted his friendship. To this day i wish I could have been around more, even though his mother told me to never say things like that to blame myself for his passing. He suffered a drug overdose and was left to die by those he was with. The first time I heard this I sang it in my truck on repeat until my voice horsed for 3 days, and 'You said you'd never leave' makes me cry every time I hear it. Now I talk about him every time I stream Wild Arms 2 as it was the last game we played together. I even had a memorial hat made in his honor with the quote, 'Our meeting was fate itself' from Irving's quote 'Take my hand. This bond is the only hope that continues from the past into the future. In other words, our meeting here on earth is fate itself. RIP Andrew. I miss you brother!

I'll never stop listening to this song, I'm an only child but my best friend who I've known since i was roughly 5 is like my brother. This song isn't just a song, there is emotion put into this and that's why I love it. I feel it in my chest, I understand the pain and strife, there is a beauty in this song. The perfect balance of sorrow but the release of it in the chorus in the outbursts of chaotic emotions creates a blend of happiness and safety to know you're past the past and into the future. Thank you Saul.

I heard this song on octane, and feel in love with it right away. Unfortunately it was right after I lost my brother, but after hearing exactly what this was about, it brought such a surreal feeling to me. Music is the way I express myself, and this way the first song that I shared after the passing of my brother. Thank you!
