The baddest villain in history has arrived onto the scene of Magic the Gathering - Sauron. Does he really get tempted by the ring, I mean, it’s his ring. We are going to build his mighty Orc army and conquer our commander table with so much card draw value they will be wishing they were the ones who were wearing the ring. Let’s show our opponents how the One Ring really works.

I have invested bit of my deckslot on making advantage of discarding and drawing so much and so often. I had the classic wheel cards like [[Windfall]], [[Whispering Madness]] along with [[Waste Not]]. cards like [[Bone Miser]], and [[Rielle, the Everwise]] gives more advantage for discarding, and [[Chasm Skulker]], [[Toothy, Imaginary Friend]], and [[The Locust God]] provides advantage upon drawing tons of cards. (also makes a quite versitile board state as well) In trade of these cards, I had to take out the Nazguls and Wraith related cards from my deck. What are your thoughts about these choices? also I recommand cards like [[Ozolith]], and [[The Golden Throne]] Both of them are legendary artifact to enable [[Mount Doom]] and works with the decks synergy quite well.

Great deck. I was building something very similar. Couple includes for me is call of the ring and changeling outcast for a unblockable army.

I had Call of the Ring in the original, but I didn’t want extra card draw due to Sauron ability.

Sorin is a vampire planeswalker. This guy is SAURON. Like, SOW (as in 'OW, I stubbed my toe!") and RON (as in the red headed kid from Harry Potter).

I want to start by saying I love your ideas. With new sets it seems I always seem to be constructing a commander and many times I find one of your videos doing the same without fail. i always get some sort of advice or suggestion that i incorporate. LOVE your work. with all that said, let me share 2 ideas on Sauron/Nazgul: Blade of selves and lots of clones such as Sakashima of a thousand faces/ Clone/ Spark Double/Flameshadow Conjuring*** etc...

Thoughts on working in a Grave Pact and/or Braids, Arisen Nightmare? If one of the goals is to sack 1/1 Orc Armies Grave Pact would help fill your opponents graveyard for a late game Rise of the Dark Realms and Braids does either the same thing (if they choose to sack a creature) or pings them and gives you card draw in the worst case scenario.

I'm probably going to cut one of the less needed ramp pieces for the Grixis Saruman. With that adjustment, there will still be 37 noncreature spells in the deck, which I think is worth it. Otherwise, this is a great deck. I'll probably also try and find a place for Archfiend of Ifnir and Bone Miser.

As the ring tempts you do each effect activate and added to the last one. Until every temptation step are active and effect all together at the same time?

Just getting into magic and decided to make this deck my first commander deck! I do have a question for you or anyone. when sacing you army i noticed you just remove the counters. just to clarify you dont sac the whole army to trigger these cards?

Good Morning from Herne, i also play Sauron - but in my Deck i have all 9 Nazgul - and I play it with wraith! But my commander is specially, i have only cards from lord of the rings, plus Boxtopper! :) It is fun and i love Lord of the rings thema! Thank you for your video - i have download it. how about adding scaretiller and liquidmetal coating to the deck. like make a boardwipe with mount doom with the army as ringbearer by making it an artifact with liquidmetal coating. and with scaretiller you´ll get mount doom back from your graveyard. and then repeat

Technically the ninth Nazgûl is the leader of them, witch king of Angmar, so rocking 8 of them in a deck isn’t too bad, I’d just say the ninth one is the witch king. He comes with his own unique art too so

Successfully got all 9 nazgul mostly in fear of being called a fool, hahaa. But I have to say my version of this deck is very slow VS. Merry and Pippin token deck. But I love this deck. I need more test play

When you amass orcs you only create a New token Creature if you dont have an army. If you have you only put +1/+1 on that one, só you dont have a lot of orcs to sacrifice. Just one

I would play the 2nd Witch King, Sauron the Necromancer and Call of the Ring, With Call of the ring and the nazgul you can turbo your Tempting. And Call of the ring combos also with sheoldred.

in the darkness bind them is never going off though... 4 turns to hit chapter 4... 5 mana... thats turn 9... that is too slow

"Soorun" 🤣 But still a good insight video on how the deck can be played. Played four games with it and its mana curve is very off. Sauron, The Dark Lord is way better as a Commander than Sauron, Lord of the Rings.

Also want to point out, stuff like Sauron's Ransom and Ringsight are nonbos with this commander. For Ransom, it doesn't matter what they give you, because once the ring tempts you, you're have to discard it anyways. Same with Ringsight. You'll have the ring tempt you, so Sauron's ability will go on the stack once this ability resolves, and whatever card you tutored up... it's discarded.

If I’m not mistaken, you seem to be under the impression that to activate the Ward ability of Sauron, the owner of Sauron must sacrifice something. I was under the impression ward works the opposite way, due to the language of the description, specifically the modification of “that player” with “an opponent controls.” If I’m wrong please let me know, thanks.

I watched to the end for the retention, but that goldfishing at the end could definitely be cut. Otherwise, this was a super helpful video! I recently switch from weaker sauron to this one and needed ideas. This is a fun build!

Cant draw 4 with no hand because it says discard your hand, if you do, draw 4. You didn’t have a hand to discard, so you didn’t discard anything, no draw
