This game was one I really enjoyed playing on the Neo Geo CD when I opened one. The stage backgrounds tell such rich storytelling in this game world. While the AI beats you constantly down, there is just something so exciting to keep playing in this world.

It was surprising when this game actually got a sequel as it wasn’t altogether that successful. I think it had more to do with the controls being difficult to adjust to from other games at the time and they just sometimes don’t feel responsive for no reason. It’s also difficult to accurately and consistently attack your opponents with line changing attacks: a worry mitigated because Carol’s hits on both sides. The AI as you can tell was an issue as well (he played on the average setting level 8 is much worse) most special moves were safe on block and the AI NEVER falls for any mind game tricks, tick throw setups that are off by 2-3 frames, or most pressure sequences. This makes Carol look like a low tier character when she isn’t. Also the AI loves to spam line changing and line change attacks which are usually safe as well. So, why do Carol and Nicola never appear playable again? It’s easy. They were the least popular. I played this in an arcade that had the cabinet for over 1 year, and I was the only Carol main. No one used Nicola and there were 4 Gordon mains. Apparently, Carol and Nicola were the least used and that’s why they never appeared a playable again. For anyone looking to check this out: the controls take FOREVER to get used to and still can feel clunky, and the AI will always be on your ass. That’s what you have to deal with and get used to.

ah yes, the legendary boomerang karate style of fighting. i couldn't help but laugh at the description in the trailer. that said, some cool move sets in this game. different planes are always a mixed bag, but overall, pretty cool game.

Chung's design used to annoy me back in the day. but in hindsight. It makes sense. this game takes place in the future, so of course the old guy is going to dress like how he did in his youth. Assuming he was born in either the 80's or 90's.

Just when I knew everything about SNK... Savage Rain comes up in my home page feed. I apparently have been on a sort of SNK kick recently, having watched GuileWinQuote's video on Athena: Awakening from the ordinary life for PS1 and Gillythekid's video about the obscure Sonic games, one of them being the Sonic Pocket Adventure on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. What's next? Am I gonna watch through a playthrough of Koudelka?

I will love, to see this concept again, but with a different company, it doesn't have to be, Street fighter, but what weapons, I love the whole concept of a fight game, being a platformer, that doesn't go the super smash Brothers root, another thing about it, I've just described, power Stone, that tells me, this game, is basically, more or less, predated power Stone.

I don't know how to feel about this game, I give it this, it's like, Street fighter, but what if they had weapons and that whole concept, is very creative and unique..
