Want to host a watch party?
Our efforts are magnified when we engage with others who share our concerns and hopes for the future of our country. Invite a group of friends, family, or people from your dharma community to watch this event with you, and commit - together - to the ways you will align your spiritual practice with civic engagement ahead of the 2024 election, and beyond.
Consider the following questions as a group after you’ve watched the event:
1. What do you care most about that’s at stake in the upcoming election?
2. What most inspired you about the event and speakers?
3. What engagement will be rewarding for you as you prepare to support a pro-democracy future? Volunteering? Donating to campaigns and organizations? Becoming a poll worker or election monitor? Driving people to the polls?

I really resonated with many of the words and especially Roshi Joan Halifax. I summarized her four recommendations here for my notes in case this is helpful. 1. Clearing the mind of psychosocial debris through practices like love, art, and nature, while staying aligned with values of integrity and care. 2. Educating oneself about strategies of transmissional delusion, such as information noise, gish gallop, and moral outrage, and understanding how these tactics manipulate public perception. 3. Maintaining communities of care that are grounded in conscientiousness and compassion, fostering connection and responding to suffering as wise communities. 4. Engaging in action, building relationships across divides, and actively participating in democratic processes, such as voting and organizing.

The problem of "evil" is profound. In personality disorders, resistance to "beginner's mind," resistance to changing, to learning and to behaving contrary to "identity" creates interpersonal and cooperational difficulties. Part of the answer to mitigating these problems is to remain in "wise mind," to create space through mindfulness from our own fearful, lashing-out, reactive selves. This creates space between us and the "damage" of non-adaptive close-mindedness. Limiting the spread of pathogens is an effective response in pathology. In the same way, compassion helps mitigate psychological harm and is always the simplest path towards "wise mindedness" and "beginner's mind." 💙

I accept that this country has been dissolving for a long time, and I am prepared to do my spiritual advocacy in any context, even if that may be a state within the former United States of America. We cannot accept tyranny but we cannot force unity. Remembering and renewing our communities is important either way. I have come to this realization for many reasons but especially after being a victim of judicial immunity. Immune cops and judges violate our constitutional rights everyday; who is going to regulate them in all their power and immunity? This is happening with a democratic president in place. A lot needs to be dismantled even if a democratic president is in place. Has anyone looked into how the Democratic party actually works procedurally? Are you aware that when Bernie sued them, they won their argument that legally they don't have to follow their bylaws and fulfill their promise to function as a democratic organization. It's time to shift the paradigm and accept greater collapse. Vision, vision, vision. Community, community, community. Regular people are not as hateful as you think they are; the systems are.

One problem with the political aspect of the U.S., is that unlike European countries, which have several political parties, the U.S., has only two major political parties. A third party candidate has never won a presidential election. Hence, we have only 2 major political parties.

I appreciate your work Tara, you've been a grounding beacon of compassion for me in many periods of my life and I'm greatful. However, respectfully, I think you have been unknowingly hijacked by those who weaponize compassion. I'm sadly quite sure there is no one or way to discuss this in a useful way, certainly not through KZfaq comments, so with this, I'm afraid I must unsubscribe and say goodbye. I wish you peace, health, and an open path.

Many spiritual people haven’t developed their aspect of rational intelligence which is as divine as any other aspects of us.
@Lottar
@Lottar Ай бұрын
@@gb1174 I'm not sure it's under developed rational intelligence - we've all had to adjust our informational immune system over the past decade, and those who have not have been at high risk of being sucked into one of the narratives, no matter their rational intelligence. When concepts your spiritual practice revolves around are weaponized by some of those narratives, a weak immune system makes you even more likely to fall victim. This is hard for me to watch, because I see compassion coopted, not only corrupting it, but also preventing it from being practiced where it is needed most - at least to my opinion.

Cannot listen to this trash. Left or right, it is a different wing of the same bird. Both are corrupt. I don't understand how this is about compassion, the energy is divisive and has an agenda to steer people against the right. Not at all what compassionate activism entails. Very disappointing!

@@aaronking1782 Tara unfortunately revealed herself to be a hypocrite and loves to delete valid comments. There is simple no reasoning with them. That love they are all obsessed with and preach of? @@aaronking1782 I really agree with this, too. I could barely listen to this as it felt very divisive. Tara's contribution was the only one for me that resonated with the frequency of love and I deeply felt her presence (as usual), but I too suspect she's now been infected with this woke consciousness, otherwise I don't think she would be participating in this conference.
