In today's video we look into the Golf GTi's running issues again as it still doesn't run right. BUT I think I've fixed it... or have I?? We run some Dragy times too to compare it to a stock GTI.

Hi mate, a good tip for you if you have an air compressor. When removing tricky coil pack rubbers, use an air blower down the centre of the rubber, it expands the contacf surface and they pull even the most stubborn ones right off. It helps if you wrap insulation tape around your air blower end so that when your aiming into the coil rubber it creates a seal and more air goes directly into the coil rubber

As someone who has done spark plugs on MK7 GTI and R, only pull the plugs when the engine is warm. If the engine is cold, it's super hard to pull them out. It's highly likely for you to break them especially if the car is older. Then you can wait after you pull out the plugs for the engine to cool to replace the spark plugs.

I think your issue is related to carbon buildup on the back of the intake valve. Remove the round plug from the front of the timing cover to reveal the chain tensioner. You will be able to assess chain stretch based on how many teeth are exposed on the tensioner. Please show how you did the chain adaptation from your previous video. Thanks.

If you have to change the coil packs again in the future, let the engine warm up a small bit first and they will come out a 100 times easier.

Hey, great vid! Question for the comments and yourself, got a Mk7 GTI myself and really the only complaint I have is a crappy sounding rattle on the drivers side on cold start, seems to be a few things in the forums, but noone really knows whats up with it, any ideas?
@rodneckbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Hey, the lumpy idle is actually a 2.0tsi kinda thing, my golf mk7 gti facelift did it bought with only 10.000km on it... And our 2016 S3 8V does it also that car has Just gone over 200.000km still going Strong pushing 382.8hp. And every 2.0tsi i've seen got that wierd lumpy idle like it randomly misfires from time to time. Nothing to worry about, you gotta get used to it :p if it drives you nuts dont swap to smf and race clutch it clunks and clanks like ****
@confusedbycars2 жыл бұрын
Mine had a sporadic slight lumpy cold start, took forever to diagnose didn't do it everytime and ran absolutely perfect warm. Turned out to be a dodgy port injector, annoying cos it was so hard to replicate

Surprised at the near miss with the MOT and a ‘coolant leak’ ‘Coolant leak According to DVSA guidelines, a vehicle will only fail the MOT if a fluid leak creates a pool on the floor within five minutes that's more than 75mm in diameter, or if there are many leaks which collectively leak fluid at the same rate.Aug 21, 2018’ They could refuse to do either the brake roller test or emission test because it could cause damage to either their equipment or your car 🤷

Those coil packs are the worst, only way to get them out without damage is to pull the coilpack itself off and then blow shop air into the boot. Will come out without a problem.

Can't you just use Vagcom and check the fuel consumption for exhaust (block 15.3) and torsional value for intake (forgot which block it is) and see if they are within factory spec like on the diesel engines?
