It wasn’t even bad I think because you’re in a small room, the sound picks up way easier. You could tell the mics were off but it didn’t ruin the experience at all in my opinion

"Oh, sure, he probably jilted her. It's the story of her life." Livia's inner ugliness really came out with that remark. But of course, then she deflects and plays the victim. Livia laughing after Tony falls down the stairs is a callback to season 1 when Tony was asked by Melfi for a happy childhood memory, and all he could come up with was a time when his father Johnny fell down some stairs and the whole family laughed. It seemed like it was the only time he ever saw his mother laugh.

Typical of Livia to laugh about the misfortunes of others

It also points out his own dysfunctional feelings, even as a kid, someone falling over and getting hurt is funny, until it happens to him, but he never makes the connection his dad didn't like that either. Tony was dysfunctional even as a child, he never had a chance to not be a sociopath

Ah, yes, Jackie "Myfatha" Aprile Jr. comes into play. And no, we (you) haven't seen him yet, it is the episode he is introduced. Richie truly lived by his code, marriage first, wife-beating later. And he is buried "on the hill" now. What a great story.

Fuck the poor audio. First and only reactors to guess Janice icing Richie , congratulations haha. Every other reactor hasn't picked up on that guess. Even the one or two that have "picked up" on stuff you guys missed thus far. Back then it was s big surprise for Richie to end like that. We all expected a climatic gun battle between him and Tony or at least some sort of major climax. But nope the show throws a crazy curve ball at you. While some may find it frustrating for certain plots to result in the absolute unexpected (or fizzle out into nothing), this show will always keep you on your toes and clearly the majority of people appreciated this realistic approach of not every subplot getting an ending and/or an ending you want to happen

No worries about the audio, that happens! Stoked you guys are back! Happy New Year and all that! Since I discovered you this is now my favourite Notification to receive! 🔔 😛 Also, regarding the episode looking a little different, the variation of directors hired for each episode all kinda have their feel and look to them. Personally, I'm on my fifth watch, and at this point I can sometimes tell, oh this is a John Patterson episode, or an Allen Coulter episode.

The expression is normally "knight in white armor" meaning a hero. There was a hit song by the Moody Blues called "Nights in white satin". It's just a malapropism (a mistaken use of a word by one that sounds like it), that she makes. Honestly don't know if there's any deeper meaning to it - it's just funny.

Makes sense given Irina’s English - still wonder about the symbolism 🤔 feel like David Chase rarely does things without clear intention
@flowname
@flowname 5 ай бұрын
I bet there's no symbolism, a white armor knight (prince) is usually portrayed on top of a horse and with a white coat or tunic on his shoulders in all these fairytales, hence the satin.

Love that you guys are back! And yes this penultimate episode of the season was excellent, the show just gets better. Enjoy your breakdowns, what you get right and what you may be off on, it is all good. Your channel is in my Top two for Sopranos reactors. You guys have easily over taken another channel that will go unnamed, they disappointed me in ways I can’t begin to tell you.

Tony really is the "knight in shining armour" in the episode ("an idealized or chivalrous man who comes to the rescue of a woman in a difficult situation"). He rescues Irina & Janice from their situations but the "satin" reference is partly Irina getting the phrase wrong but i think also speaks to his failures in being a knight for his wife. Satin is weak and superficial. He shows honour to Janice & Irina but not to Carmela.
