Important need-to-know stuff: This info may save you if you ever end up in a sauna! So memorize and rewatch it until you know it all by heart, if we come and wake you up in the middle of the night will you remember all of it? If not: rewatch it again until you do!
The sauna tent shown in this video is the Hiisi 4. The stove is a prototype in testing, but works exactly as our currently available standard model.

I'm curious, with that much moisture is there any mould build up on the fabric?
@pawetsufi

No because the kiuas is still hot when you leave the sauna so all of the fabric dries before you pack your sauna. And the moisture escapes quite quickly after you have thrown some löyly/water on the hot rocks).

so do you "bath" in a sauna how does one get clean?
@Savotta
@Savotta 2 жыл бұрын
Water and soap (optional) is quite a classic way.
Жыл бұрын
In wilderness there is usually water tank beside the heater and as you heat the sauna, you heat the water as well.then you mix that hot water with cold and you get water temp you like for bathing purposes. This usually done as last thing after hour or few of being in sauna. Alternatively, many people simply dip in nearby lake or river. Just remember to use nature friendly hygiene products if you use lake or river for it.

I did my ancestry DNA. I was ~4% finnish, and mostly British, Irish, Scottish and German....I look like the guy in the fur hat. I think the 4% finnish blood controls most of me. I had no idea recently about saunas and cold plunges etc. I spent a week in the UP of Michigan and happened upon a sauna, by chance, a nice old man looked at me and said I reminded him of someone and asked me if I wanted to take a sauna. Ive never taken a sauna up to that point. So I did. Wow, I was skeptical at first, but I am not building a sauna on my pond in Kentucky.

Why do Fins like saunas so much?
@ThePumpkincarnival
@ThePumpkincarnival Жыл бұрын
It has been always a part of our culture. Saunas are consired holy places, it's a place where there are no titles or class system between people. Just people, naked like we were born. Leaders and peasants were all equal in sauna. Also historically it was a place where women gave birth and a place where we washed our dead. A place where we greeted new life and said goodbye to ones who lived.

Russian Banya is basically the same. I don't know about Sauna, but we also spank each other with Veniks (branches) or have Banschik, who spanks everyone and controls the heat/humidity of Banya. To foreigners all of it sounds sus, but Banya/Sauna is for the real men.
