I want to take the time to thank you. I really appreciated your videos. While taking the test, I could literally hear your voice reading the questions and the breakdown of the answers. It was my third time taking the test. I PASSED!!!! it was never whether I knew the information or not, it was reading and understanding what is being asked! Thank you so very much for the help.

These are great practice questions. With the real ASWB test one DOES NOT have but 1 minute to select the answer. I would to dissect the questions as good as Savvy SW, but the anxiety to read the statement twice and choose the right answer in 1 minute is so hard!

I got both correct, but I will say Q2 had me stumped for a quick sec. That “provide coping techniques” had me questioning my thought🤨. I can easily see how someone can get this incorrect though and select A as the answer. Great breakdown of the question and answer options too. Thank you

I was confused at this question. If we are at the initial stage, why would we refer as the next thing we would do? Can someone help me
@WomanEvolving
@WomanEvolving Жыл бұрын
@@VibeOnTheRiseI’ve definitely had to change my way of thinking but I will say if you’re thinking of the helping process, referring will not be the very next thing you do. You want to indulge more into his feelings after he’s clarified his original stance. I just recently passed the ASWB clinical exam, it was a lot of unlearning and learning in my studies. Some questions you have to ask yourself if the client was in front of you right now, what would I do next? Or first? Referring to a support group is something you can do as an intervention but it would not be the VERY NEXT thing to do. I hope this help 😊🙏🏽

Love the breakdown of this question and love your videos. I’m going to respectfully disagree with this answer because FIRST means before any form of intervention. Also, the stem indicates mother was physically abused in front of the children (I do acknowledge the physiological effect of that.) To choose B would be assuming that the children were in danger - which they could have been but the stem did not say that. Providing psycho education is an intervention. I would say first and foremost- acknowledge the clients autonomy and then provide psycho education. Meaning “ I respect your decision but if you are going to go back, here is some education for you to consider in your decision making” I would love to hear feed back from your thoughts.
@savvysocialworkerexamprep160
@savvysocialworkerexamprep160 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. "FIRST" does NOT only mean "before any form of intervention." It simply means that you want to focus on the MOST IMPORTANT choice/intervention that helps the client address their presenting problem (most critical concern at this time). Option B does not "assume that the children are in danger." It just simply implies that DV can have negative effects on children, (very much PSYCHOlogical, not physiological). Accepting the client's decision to return home is not the MOST IMPORTANT focus right now. The children ALWAYS are. So ANYTIME you have children in a potentially harmful situation, physically or mentally, their safety must be the priority. Also, be watchful of "trick words," because accepting and acknowledging have totally different meanings. Most importantly, since the PRESENTING PROBLEM is "specifically" about the woman bringing her children back into the home, then your intervention MUST DIRECTLY address that specifically... involving the children who are in every sentence of this scenario. Children are always prioritized in DV situations. I hope this helps!

Currently in my last year of my MSW program. When would you recommend applying for licensing? Should I give myself a month off to study or just jump right in there?

It depends on how you feel. If you're mentally drained then definitely take a break. However, do NOT wait too long.

When is it possible to sign up to take the licensure exam during your final year in the MSW program? Is it the final year, or the final semester, or when you're done with your final class of the program?

Are these actual ASWB questions that have provided answers or ones you have created yourself ?
@WomanEvolving
@WomanEvolving Жыл бұрын
Of course not, right? None of these study programs have the exact ASWB questions and answers. If anything these study programs should help you in how to think and answer… but none are the exact ASWB questions. Don’t put your faith in that. Take what you can grasp in it and move on. From this program, I learned the concept of identifying what is the issue vs what is the problem. Ensuring your answer choice aligns with the problem itself. Hope this helps 😊

@WomanEvolving

@@tiffanydavis6786 Hey there, take a look at her “Presenting vs Priority Problem” tutorial video. This helped me a great deal to separate the two. Once I got a firm understanding of how they differ, I was able to apply it to other practice questions even outside of this program. Now, there are some questions it doesn’t apply too or questions that just only has one problem and that’s it. Again, it helped me a great deal and I passed my test. just to clarify - do we NOT report to CPS when we are aware the children are in a home environment where they WITNESS, but do not directly experience, domestic violence?
@savvysocialworkerexamprep160
@savvysocialworkerexamprep160 2 жыл бұрын
Correct. Unless the children are being abused or you have reason to suspect that they are or will be. Many DV situations do NOT involve the children.
@ridethewaves4034
@ridethewaves4034 Жыл бұрын
Actually, it varies by state. Children are directly and indirectly affected by the abuse. They not only see/witness, but the hear the violence as well. CPS should always assess safety because most likely the children have been affected some kind of way and the only way to know if they are not being abused is through the investigation. CPS also needs to know the adult victim has the protective capacities to ensure the children's safety in the home if that are physically and or verbally abused. Most often the victim adult will attempt to stop the abuse by redirecting the abuser's attention to herself. When in doubt call childline or the county. If you don't call it in, document why to cover yourself.

In Indiana at least, you are a mandated reporter if a child has witnessed DV.

I might be wrong, but I would think that since this question is addressing what you do FIRST, even if you do have to call cps it wouldn’t be the first thing you would do.
