A tree stump about 4,800 years old was discovered to have fallen in the tropical forest! The tree trunk is 40 meters long and has a base diameter of up to 3.6 meters. The tree stump has been cut by workers to make giant monolithic tables. This work requires workers to be highly trained as well as knowledgeable. experienced! Please leave your comments below! Big massive tree. Glad you were able to salvage it and turn it into lumber. Ekop shows as a utility wood mostly used in plywood. I have not seem much with that kind of vivid color. Nicest slabs I have ever seen.

To do justice to these slabs, the prospective owners must have the deep pockets, to build a room, if not a house, around them. They will look amazing, if you sand & polish into a mirror finish & see your face reflected from it. Complete with the proper lighting.

Ekop wood is also called Ekop Meyer or Ekop Zing. When imported to Vietnam, it is often called percussion wood. This type of wood usually grows and develops well in fertile soil, so Ekop wood has a very large size, but its hardness is not as strong as Pachy or Gana wood.

Great video. Amazingly big piece of wood. I wonder were the black lines caused by speed control issue or is it because of the weight of the slab that’s causing them? 👍👍

In today's culture in Vietnam, they like to show off their wealth, so they make such thick and heavy mahogany tables. These types of wood are imported from Africa. They buy them from Africa at a very cheap price, but when they are brought here, the price increases very high.

60 tons seem to be a bit overdone! The steel cables look like 10 tons capacity each, which would fit to the capacitiy of the crane estimated at 20 tons. So at any rate not considering any safety regulations the stump should not have more than 30 tons.

Beautiful salvaged timber - I’d love a piece from the centre. That said, the guy climbing the ladder while that saw is running is nuts. They must know what happens when a bandsaw blade that size breaks. Not funny.

@@wrstew1272 I meant a slab from half way down the tree/stump - didn’t look punky to me. Regardless, there is absolutely no “Gotta make a living … “ cost to running that saw safely, even in a third world nation. The psychology of workers in hazardous settings is interesting and being “seasoned” doesn’t equal safe either in the first or third world … in many cases it simply means you got lucky so far. That’s great until it isn’t.

Why greed? What does it mean, you can't cut down trees, kill animals to eat them, and what else? We are supposed to eat cockroaches, but they also want to live. It's good that in Indonesia or Malaysia people think normally.
