Welcome back to the mill!
In today's video we are going to be starting an order for a customer. They want to build a cabin on some land they purchased in another state. Today we are going to be sawing the 2x12 stair treads they need. we will go over why it is important to have a book or a place to write down orders for customers, as well and try to explain what is going through our heads as we are sawing the logs when trying to get more than just 1" boards.
We want to give a huge shoutout to Solomon, he helps us so much editing some of the videos. Be sure to check out his channels, he puts in an amazing amount of effort for our channel as well as his own.

Great video again. Good to see some Carolina boys on the Tube. I run a little lt15wide down here in gaston. Id love to have something with more automation, but it is what it is. Always find something to learn. Thanks jj😊

Good video guys really enjoy watching my father and I should be getting our LT35 this week or next that’s what wood mizer says. From watching y’all I’ve learned that when we pick it up we will get some extra parts you have done videos on changing thanks for sharing your knowledge

Good explanation on how to get the lumber you are wanting from the logs you have. Have you guys noticed a difference after the foam insulation? Bet it's cooler and a lot more quiet? It sure helped my shop. Why did you edge on the mill instead of the edger?
@BeardedLumber
@BeardedLumber 2 ай бұрын
Thx Jimmy the spray foam helped a lot it's easier to edge 16ft boards on the mill with our current set up the edger needs a longer in feed table and the mill out of the way .

one of the things i try to get across to customers is, i have to figure out the straightest way threw the logs. you can't just look at the end and say that's what you have to work with. unrealistic expectations.

Very true, I don't know until it's opened up and see what the log will yield. Thx for watching and commenting

I'm a little ashamed to ask this question cause I think the answer is simple, but here goes. Why is there a debarker on one side and not both. Very enjoyable video as always, thanks for sharing
@BeardedLumber
@BeardedLumber 2 ай бұрын
The debarker is only needed where the blade enters the log it pulling thru the wood on the opposite side, less likely to be damaged by dirt or rocks. Thx for asking.

Great content!! With southern yellow pine having a lot of sticky sap in them when freshly cut, do you let the logs sit for a period of time to let the sap harden/ stiffen up a bit before sawing. Wondering if it would be beneficial ( not as much sticking sap on the mill and maybe easier on the blade).
@BeardedLumber
@BeardedLumber 2 ай бұрын
The extent of sap is more dependent on the time of the moon and time of the year Old people always cut their stove wood on light nights to make it burn hotter. So that being said every log is different based on when it was cut. I hope that helps. Thx for watching
