I lined my horse stalls with black oak 1x12s about 35 years, they were so green they squirted water as they were nailed up. I never had to replace one and never had a horse chew on them. I was commercial performance horse stable with 19 stalls. Good choice of lumber.

I can’t believe how beautiful the lumber is you are sawing !! You say it’s going in a horse barn for use a dividers between stalls. When l built my house 30 years ago, l had a guy ask me $3.50 board foot . For people reading this that’s 1 foot x 1 foot x1 inch thick. That was kiln dried, but gosh your sawing some nice stuff.

My uncle's took me to Weyerhaeuser in So. Oregon where it seemed every male family member worked before the spotted owl sham ruined the industry there. One worked in plywood and another ran the big saw. There were logs it seems as big as vans around and twice as long. I was an 8 or 9 year old so who knows. I sure appreciate what you do and listening to you. Belated H.B. to Eddie. I bet he has some logging stories.

Just admiring The Eddie Horvath’s work ethics. He works hard but smart. The young guys helping out from time to time wear no gloves or protective equipment and hzz as be lots of wasted movements. Partially that comes from age and partially from knowing the job to be done.

Mark, I have cut up more bf of oak in 30+ years than I could begin to count and I must say it does not get better than this. A knot here and there can easily be cut around with very little waist. Blessings to you and yours.

The new 2020 mill is working good the saw going thru that big red sounds almost as good as the Detroit

I mill with a Woodmizer and love it. However there is something about the sound of the bus engine and blade cutting is awesome. Ron

I went down a rabbit hole, thanks to you guys😜. I looked up 56” blades to see what they go for and watch them get manufactured and then looked at sawmills for sale, used equipment. Pretty interesting. I’m disabled so I spend a lot of time on this internet thing. I’m sure they’ll be more rabbit holes coming. I love this channel. You’ve already got a Florida flag and I see a tag today, although we have about 30 different tags here so I’ll probably find one in my stack to send up. It’s a great way to show my appreciation for making my day go by a little better. I see you have the cases the blades came in also there. 52” to 56” doesn’t sound like that much but you can really see it in those 2 round crates.

Hey guys, love your videos. I just wanted to comment on what you said in the beginning of this video about blade size. I have a Oscar 36 band saw and the biggest log I've cut was 32 inches diameter and as strait as a pencil. Lucky I had the carriage behind the log otherwise I would have never cleared the height. But I've cut bigger and always welcome big logs. It's gives opportunity to quarter saw. I bought a chain saw with a 36 inch bar just for that. It was a few years ago, but after a hurricane I went around and collected big logs, most were pecan (pee-can) and some oak. with that said it doesn't really matter how big your mill is, it's how you deal with the logs. BTW I am very envious of your mill, the live deck, and log turner. With love from N. central Florida.

You really need a Logrite cant hook or peavey. Beats the wood handle ones all to .... hands down. You would like it better, like so many others have found out already. Great to see the big saw on and running well.. tks for the video.

Not many mills can comfortably run a 56. Every time I see this in action I am comparing it to mine. Never turn your back as I might borrow it one day Mark, LOL.

I like the laser, and was thinking it would be nice to have a horizontal laser to shoot the height of the cut on the log, it may or may not help, but I would probably need one.

Do you have a trim saw/resaw?

Please explain why you don't de-bark before sawing. Is it because it isn't often you get a troublesome log, or just time? I ask because I know someone with a portable saw (wood miser, I think) who always de-barks.
