What a wonderful way to honor and remember Mike McCoy. I am sure his family will cherish the wood sign that you made for him Mark. I have often heard black oak referred to as “Sour Oak” because of the strong stomach acid smell that comes from the fresh sawn lumber. Actually, that was a decent black oak log. It made some really nice material. Great sawing video gentlemen!

What type of tree, wood,is people's favorite? Mine, visually, is Black Cherry,it beautiful if it's from Vermont. Functionality wise,Maple is my favorite because of syrup, maple syrup, not that fake trash people buy in stores, when northerners work butts off,to make syrup.Hard hard work that goes largely unnoticed.

Mark, for the first log, was it the crook or the limbs that dictated where you start? Something you might try-unless the crook is horrible, on logs like the first one with big limbs, I try to put the limb on a corner of a cant which often times takes "most" of the knot off in the waste. Just a suggestion you might look at if you don't already. Love the videos.

Great team work as usual, what is your opinion on the feet per minute you’ve chosen for your saw? We are running in the higher end at almost 10,000’ and we are cutting primarily softwoods. I’ve been told to run slower for hardwoods but then obviously the saw tuned for 750rpm wobbles if we reduce speed any.
