Thanks so much Sandy. My attachment had been sitting in a box since i didn't have the courage to try this installation. The video from the wm tech was terrible ( audio and video). If it weren't for your step by step, explicit instructions, mine would still be in the box. I appreciate you.

This video doesn't show the hardest part of this install which is the shock, I'd wager the reason he doesn't show it is because he was cussing it out the whole time

What a great job of videoing and explaining the process. Thank you so much for the energy you put in to your videos. From one of your brothers down south, I will be buying a 130 max because of what you have shown of yours. Buy the way, I own a Kioti ck3510 and love it. Best Wishes

I have that attachment for my 2022 HM130MAX, it was a nightmare, had to remove it from the mill in order to use mill to start cutting wood, it's easier to place a wedge under the cant to cut lap-siding 😊

Hey just cause I am a steady watcher doesn't mean I won't go back and watch ones I missed before. I have seen this setup before on other mills, you made it a little less foggy to understand. I being a bit nit picky might of suggested to clean up around the project so if something does drop on the floor, you ease of finding it might be a lot easier as I do drop everything.. just look at the front of my pants and you will know i told the truth. Nice job Sandy

Cool, but seems to me easier to tilt the cant rather than tilt the saw head.. I was watching your board & batten projects and was thinking for narrow boards lap siding might be a good idea. I was thinking to cut edges for each stud to pad out a board to lap. But looking at this I was thinkings a wedge under the cant would work too. If doing a lot of siding a cradle for the cant which rocked back and forth would work well...maybe better than this attachment because might be easier setup.

When i got the Norwood Lumbermate 2000 over 20 years ago, Igot the taper attachment. Didn't even assemble it after seeing it in the boxes. It looked like such a pain to use. The cant had to wedge back and forth. I could tell it would jump around when the blade engaged. Never thought about setting up the sawhead to angle. I'll figure out how to make one like this for the Norwood

Hello Sandy, those parts are really solid! I was thinking about those bearings, are they to replace bearings that you already have on your sawmill? Everything looks really nice. I was thinking about the hatchet and I was wondering if I should remove the handle, that would cut down on weight and size. I will take a photo if I can figure out how to attach it to a comment? I am 77 now and running a lot slower doing everything. Regards, Edgar

I have veiwed many of your videos, learned alot, pulled the trigger and orded a new 130 MAX. Mill is back ordered due to high demand, so while I'm waiting for delivery, I decided to build my own trailer to permanetly mount it on. Can you tell me how much further do the new stops stick out PAST the old ones you removed. I want to be sure that my trailer frame is long enough so that that stops don't stick out past the end and get bumped or damaged. I have the overall demetions with the standerd stops. Great stuff, keep posting!!!

@troyjones5255
@troyjones5255 3 жыл бұрын
@@sawingwithsandy Thanks for reply. The online measurement from schematic is 236" from the end or stop to stop. It doesn't give any measurement from the bunks out, or in between. So basically I need to know is how much longer the stop is than the original one on the other side. For instance if it's 2" than I need to make the trailer carriage 4" longer, if it's 3'', than 6" See what I mean? I'm sure you're busy, but if you could check on that again for me and let me know I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Troy

The problem I had with lap siding attachment was the gas cylinder would not compress, it's supposed to compress under the weight of the mill head, but it would not, so I just gave up and removed attachment, from mill and saved it in the storage shed, now instead of raising one side of the the mill, I just raise one side of cant with a wedge, works just as well, with much less headache, I wasted over $500, trying to be fancy 🥴
@thereedychronicles8572
@thereedychronicles8572 4 жыл бұрын
Does it only cut one angle, on one side, and then you have to rotate the cant? Or does it alternate the cut from left to right? Thanks
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy 4 жыл бұрын
The cut alternates from tilted to flat back to tilted the. Flat. This gives you the most lap siding out of each can’t. You can adjust the tilt and thickness of each piece of lap siding with the height adjustment and indexing handle

I don't recall too much trouble with the shock but if it is giving ya some trouble I'd imagine you could take the weight of the sawmill off the tracks on the one side to connect the shock then let the sawmill back down

If you had it to do over again, would you buy the lap siding attachment when you first bought your saw? I'm getting ready to put mine together and I'm wondering if it's worth the cost to incorporate the lap siding attachment now, rather than installing it later.
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy Жыл бұрын
Hi Rojer! I think I would go for the lap siding attachment right from the start just to save on shipping costs and to also allow me to insutall the attachment at the same time I'm installing the rest of the sawmill.

Sandy I noticed that on your new Mill you didn't install the Lap Siding attachment. I bought it and installed it when I purchased my 130 Max a couple of weeks ago but think it adds an additional level of complexity and has some design shortcomings. For instance you should not have to use a Zip tie to hold the handle in position when not in use and it was a beast to get it setup just right. I think I would pass if I was purchasing again.@@sawingwithsandy

What hapend to your lapsiding attachement? Did you ended using it for project? We have ordered it on our mill. I have not try it yet. Had in mine that when doing siding you used less resource to cover the same amount of square feet and that it might look bether then strait 1" bord. What is your tougth? Do more video of it :)

Hi Francis. I sold the lap siding attachment with my old sawmill just because then I would t have to worry about uninstalling it. I liked it and it does use less wood to make siding compared with the flat boards. Keep me updated how you like yours
