Back in the woods again today in the heat as I show you the easiest way to move logs with a tractor that I've come across. If you're like me, you've got a lot of tight trails that limit how a log can be moved with a tractor. Although I'd like to be able to use my grapple or forks and pickup most logs to move it quickly, sometimes the tight trails prevent that. In this case, I use a 3 point hitch implement that creates a tow point for logs to be safely skidding out of the woods using some simple chain and hooks. Check out the extra bar and notches I added to the top of this 3 point implement to make it that much better so that if you're like me, you don't end up getting the extra length of chain wrapped up where it shouldn't be. Hope everyone is well and you're out enjoying yourselves doing whatever it is you do. Take care everyone!

My 88' Deere 1050 with the original AG's on, about 800ish pounds off concrete blocks is what I use to drag full 100' white pines through my land (soft new England forest floor with some rocks here and there) she pulls em uphill and all no problem. Same size tractor as your Kubota there. But she's all steel everything so has more weight naturally, and my modified "carry-all" with a mid-height hook to snag my chains/cables/ropes to pull anything. Dam good video man👍 we have in my experience the best sized tractor for what we're in need of and where we are, big enough wheelbase while still maneuverable yet has enough raw horse power and weight to pull in anything we need to harvest. To date biggest I've needed to pull was a 140' white pine to my cobbled up landing, fully expected to cut it at least in half as she was massive but I couldn't believe it she pulled it,needed the locker a couple times but it was well within her capability.

Hey Sandy, good video of having fun with the DK! The more I watch your videos the more I’m sold on having a full cab on my tractor when that day comes :). All kinds of fun there an that is unfortunate that the tornado went through an left that all behind. I know I’m new to your channel and your catalog of videos, but I hope that all was well for you and your family afterwards and you were all safe back then when that event happened.. Anyways, thanks for showing this 3 point tool and that will be on my list to pick up someday before upgrading to the 3 point winch :). Cheers Sandy!

Even a simple two wheel axle to slide under and chain in place while lifting with your three point will keep the log off the dirt. Rain just won't wash ground in dirt off the bark. Take a bit of time but you will save it in not dulling the band saw blade. Can't always wait til snow is on the ground and sometimes the grit comes up in the snow on a skid road. Just a thought easy enough to cobble together.

@@sawingwithsandy ; I use a boom pole with a hydraulic cylinder as a top link which allows the load to be raised even more, or lowered, when I need it. Also below the horizontal bar of the boom pole I welded a 2 '' hitch receiver. As jllesley, I also do use logging/skidding tong at the end of the boom pole and with the hydraulic cylinder as top link, I can lower the tong and grab the trunk with ease than lift it and pull it out without leaving my seat. At the end of my chains (all 3/8, 70 gr), I have a triple kit; grab hook, retrieving rod and a 4'' diam. ring to use as a choker ;-) Cheers
