Sawmill Cover Build // Part Two // Woodland Mills HM130 Max
In this video, Greg continues to clean out the piling holes, digging down to 30 inches. He adds water to the holes to make the dirt more compact and easier to dig / scoop the dirt out of the holes. Then, he mixes concrete to create a concrete base for the piling holes. He will add sonotubes and level them in our next video.
A big thank you to Marty and Julie from @MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving for sharing their tip of using a galvanized feed scoop in one of their videos. It definitely made scooping the dirt a lot easier! Definitely check out their channel, if you haven't yet. They are building a home on their off-grid homestead, here in North Idaho and have a lot of great tips and are fun to watch. Plus, their story is pretty amazing. We have met both of them and not only are they knowledgeable in what they share in their videos, but they are also kind, good humans. The kindness you see in their videos, shines through in person, as well.
Here are the specs on the sawmill cover we are building:
3 holes in the front
4 holes in the back
Overall dimensions are 15 feet wide by 36 feet long
Longest beam is 27 feet
Front part of the lean to roof is 11'9" and back is 8'
It will have a 3 :12 pitch
Posts and beams are going to be 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"
We will be the sharing the entire build. We hope you will follow along. Have you built a cover for a sawmill? Any tips?
