All are really very super high skilled 1- The person who was sharpening the blade 2- The person who was straightening the blade 3- The person who was adjusting the thickness of wood to be cut 4- The persons who were precisely feeding wood to the sawmill Hats off to all the team who were working in the sawmill 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Having done this kind of work in my youth, I could say they had a crude setup, but probably only a bit more crude that some of the country sawmills I worked around in the early 1980's. They seem to be able to make good lumber at. I could say something about the safety standards, but they are probably no worse than what we did back in the day, and they all seem to have all their fingers. I'm sure glad I don't have to do that work anymore, but I expect they are glad to have it. Good on em.

Coconut Palm timber has different ratings. The dense dark stringy fibers make posts so long as they are kept under compression. Wall joists yes, cross beam, no. The other fibers and grains are excellent for cabinetry. It is rated as harder than oak but lacks rigidity. Is also susceptible to termites.

I'm impressed that each time they turn the wood, they make the first straight cut essentially freehand. I guess a 3" (ish) bandsaw blade tends to give pretty straight cuts. The guy setting the fence each time is also pretty good at spotting the width of the board for best use of the trunk.

In the construction of big buildings, coconut lumber is used in large volumes as scaffolding and as form lumber. Selected and graded coconut lumber is also used as house posts, girders, trusses, door jambs and sidings. It has also been proven to be a suitable material for pallets.

Palm tree wood
@tommypetraglia4688
@tommypetraglia4688 3 жыл бұрын
The harder, high-density timber is suitable for general structural purposes such as pillars, trusses, rafting, furniture, window and door frames, floors, decking and floor joists. Medium density coconut timber can be used for walls, ceiling joists and horizontal studs. The hardest, densest part of the wood is found on the outer perimeter of the trunk, which gives the tree its strength, while the wood’s high silica content gives the tree elasticity. Towards the centre of the trunk, the wood gets less hard. The wood has a Janka ball hardness of 112,5 - 154,7 kgf/cm2 (1600 - 2200 psi), which is greater than that of oak (70,3 - 84,4 kgf/cm2) and Douglas-fir (35,9 kgf/cm2).

I' ve always thought coconut wood was rather fibrous (non structural without further-adhevsive?-treatment).Could be wrong.

I worked on a similarly lethal mill in Cumbria in the 70's. Would have been happier with that bandsaw though.

Coconut consists of long fibres that go up the entire palm. It is good for certain things only. Things like cabinetry and tables are ok to make out of coconut. One of the cool things about coconut wood is that there are no knots.

My thoughts exactly. Turns out, it is used for a variety products and applications such as scaffolding and trusses, as well as framing and flooring, joists, walls, and posts. The particular use often depends on the density of the material. It is even made into charcoal.
