Sawmilling 3x12 boards in a single pass

6 ай бұрынHere we are using a 1979 Mighty Mite dual circular blade diesel powered mobile sawmill to make some 3x12 boards. Vertical blade is making a 12 inch cut and the horizontal a 3 inch (the horizontal blade can cut up to 8 inch allowing for 8x12 beams to be cut in a single pass). We are milling from cottonwood which is considered a sort of garbage wood for building or firewood. But is does become pretty tough when it dries and makes good trailer decking or side boards for dump trucks, which is what these will be used for.

I have heard that about it but have never done it yet. We have been using for side rails on dump trucks so far. Thank you

How do you have the forward reverse set up on that

Im not sure what you mean. On this mill it is a hydraulic motor with a pinion gear that runs on a rack all the way down the lattice beam to move the motor/saw assembly back and forth. That motor is controlled with a lever and the mill will neutral that lever mechanically if the operator doesn't when it gets to either end.

It is built by a company called Mighty Mite. I think that is also the name of the machine. I don't know the model number specifically but it is an older diesel machine. Ours is mounted on a trailer we built for it. Normally they are set on the ground on their four legs and you roll or set the logs under and make lumber.
