I don't think so. There were only 3 NWOBHM bands that successfully transcended and survived to this day: Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Saxon. Leppard moved away from the genre almost 40 years ago, so only two have remained uninterruptedly defending the metal flag. How could Saxon be underrated, if they remain successful on the scene to this day?

Well Metallica "borrowed" that riff like they have done for other songs. Bleak House and Welcome Home Sanitarium for instance. They were, Lars Ulrich in particular heavily influenced by the NWOBHM.
