I think age band should be enforced at lower levels. I also think that single test should reflect competition requirements. If pre preliminary competition requires an axel jump then that should be requirement for the test

I heard that former Olympian and National Champion, Debbie Thomas for figure like the figure eight at Lake Placid and I still don't understand how the judges judges for artistic skills since the artistic skills are lower than the technical skills and I believe that the skaters need to obtain the help for mentally in order to step up under pressure when they compete internationally because I feel that they are just as good as their international skaters: the juniors in Linx did well: they medalled except the junior women and I believe that the judging system was incorrect for the American skater than the international skaters with the same mistakes with that new scoring system that shattered the confidence of our American skaters especially the senior and junior skaters... I like the old judging system personally. the technical score first then the artistic scoring which was higher than the technical.. but now it is indeed the technical skills higher than the artistic skills to obtain points... Where is the beauty of the art of figure skating now because some of the international skaters are just triple jumps combination, quad jumps and combinations, skins and sliding down the ice, no foot work or step work in the free program and those skaters established a higher technical score to win the competition or at least trying: nothing artistic... so Spencer and Thomas want to bring back the figure eight competition to the championship starting in the USA... so moving forward ⏩, how would the new rules applies to the figure eight component?!!

Q: What is Adapted skating/skater? I heard it mentioned but, I don't know much about it. Tests and competitions how and who qualifies etc. especially for Adults who are in USFS. Thanks!

Hello! I felt for a long time that figures should have been separated from freestyle from the beginning. And was never market right either. One must go back to what like tennis, swimming as well as golf are what I've always called country club sports. They never were meant for the public. Like street hockey or skating on the lakes. But, to get into the Olympics, these sports must conform, and so the rest is history. The reason for changes it time but old ways die hard. Also, many countries even today don't have the kinda luxurious as US and European countries do. So, instead of giving equal status they started change the wait of figures then the eliminating them all together then rewarding higher jumps like triples and quads to be the standard in skating because of blatant bias judging. And so now it a jump Fiesta instead of giving artistic its higher value. Because, it's expected and excepted that must have highest skills to compete at a national/ international level. So, artistic should get the higher status. The only problem with figures for ice skating is ice time$$$$ I would like to suggest a modified version of roller skating. Paint the circles in the ice like hockey. Then use and judge them like the do in roller skating. Because, figures is the new black dress. No matter how old you are you can at least get around a circle.

I think the changes are confusing. This makes me glad that I'm just pursuing the adult levels, and don't have to mess with that stuff. However, I do agree that skaters should be grouped together in terms of ages. My other thought is would these age groups also group teens together of similar age/level? This might be a factor in recruiting more teens to start skating if they can compete against each other at the same age/level.

My daughter is currently in basic 6 and that rink offers Pre-freeskate through to freeskate 2. Another rink has Aspire levels. Where should I place her when she completes basic 6?

Curious if anyone knows why they decided in the renaming of the tests to keep preliminary level the same name? Why didn’t they do pewter and pre-pewter for the consistency of naming? It’s just off to me and sticks out. Minor and unimportant detail, I know.

Thank you for your video. After reviewing Aspire 4 vs pre-prelim Excel, it appears that Aspire 4 may be more challenging? Do you anticipate more changes to pre-prelim and prelim?

Is it allowed to have a skater compete at the aspire levels for free skate, but still do a specialty event in character or showcase? If so are there still beginner and high beginner levels?

Curious, some of the program requirements are not updated (jumps challenge, spins, showcase etc) does this mean there will be no changes or they just aren’t up yet?
