Aww I miss Betty Baby :( I can't believe it was less than 11 months ago She has been gone.. So much has changed.. The barn all the babies.. the new babies... The list babies.. Harvey...huey.. Crazy how much changes in a year..but Ringo stays the center of attention

There is no one right way to wean. You have to consider the Mom, the baby and all the other animals that will be affected by the upheaval. You did all that and have a great solution for all involved. Congrats!!

Thank you for allowing your calf six months on mom, most farmers wean cattle way too early so they can have most of the milk from mom.

Kitty Smith would *you* have wanted to fit those horns in a stanchion? I also doubt that she’s been socialized enough with humans to make a good dairy cow. Remember, at this time she’s also very pregnant and needs to dry up before the next calf comes.

We moved my mare a half mile away in a friends pasture...kept them apart for a month....worked out well...kept my fully with her two " uncles" they took good care of her well.

LE is such a big help to you on the sanctuary and he's such a nice young man too, you should be very proud of him. Of course, raising has a lot to do with it, so that means you and his mother have accomplished the job of being good parents. He must have inherited your hair though, he has a bunch of curls. I would be very tempted to get a short haircut but I know the young people want to let it grow. He's too young to shave his head, but it's got to be hot in the summertime for him. Such a polite young man though. Love his spirit.

I keep seeing where people are asking what happened to Huey. I remember seeing a video that stated Huey went to live on Lester's dad's farm with his sire. I know he also said where the donkey went and why, but my oldtimer's is in full gear and I don't remember.

I grew up on a beef cow farm, we didn't ween our babies until 9-12 months, depending on size, and their mother's inclination.

Well i for one think your sister and sister inlaw were awsome. It gives me anxiety watching you do it with goats jumping everywhere. The chainsaw incident was so scary. Please do more with the girls they are a delight. And opened so many. Love love love them. Thank you.
