We’ve looked everywhere trying to go after the many chronic diseases that plague almost ⅔ of our adult population. But what we have seemed to ignore is the message that’s coming from within.
This is literally true! We don’t have to be profound right now, but this revelation from the pioneering figure in the field of nitric oxide research, Dr. Nathan Bryan, can fundamentally change your perspective on health.
He’s spent over two decades digging deep into the root cause of many of these chronic diseases-literally from the deep within, at the cellular level.
His great strides in molecular medicine and nitric oxide biochemistry have revolutionized our understanding of human physiology and disease management. And we’re so lucky to have him in this podcast episode to unpack why YOU are your best medicine!

Great topic, what supplements can you recomend and daily FDA required allowance..
@DoctorVMD
@DoctorVMD 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your interest! Nitric Oxide (NO) plays a crucial role in vascular health and sexual function, and supplements that support NO levels can be beneficial. Common supplements include: L-Arginine: Helps the body build protein and can boost NO levels. The suggested dose varies, with some studies using doses of 5-6 grams per day. L-Citrulline: Can increase levels of L-arginine in the body, thus boosting NO. Doses of 1.5 grams per day are often recommended. Beetroot Juice: Naturally high in nitrates, which the body can convert to NO. There's no standard dose, but research often uses 70-140 ml of beet juice. Remember, it's crucial to talk to a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications. They can provide personalized advice that considers the FDA's recommended allowances and ensures your safety.

@DoctorVMD
@DoctorVMD 3 ай бұрын
Great point! It's important to consider alternatives when discussing the downsides of antacids for acid reflux. First, it’s essential to consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice. Lifestyle changes can significantly impact acid reflux. Consider smaller, more frequent meals, avoiding lying down after eating, and reducing intake of known triggers like spicy foods, caffeine, and alcohol. Certain dietary supplements, such as ginger, probiotics, and deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), have been found helpful by some. Aloe vera juice (make sure it's formulated for internal use) and apple cider vinegar (diluted with water) are popular natural remedies, though evidence of their effectiveness varies. Remember, what works for one person may not work for another. Gradually introducing changes and monitoring their effects can be a prudent approach.

Maybe I missed it but I'm curious, is it the case that if you use the lozenges to provide the required nitric-oxide, does that then cause the body to be able to start producing it at the right levels again after some time period? Does it correct the original dysfunction or are you taking it for as long as there is a dysfunction?

I hope this helps your mother. I eat a whole food-plant based diet and it is a huge help for cardiovascular issues. In addition, I make sure to eat 4 ounces of kale, mixed in with my meals. It produces a large amount of nitric oxide, well above that of even spinach. Caldwell Esselstyn discusses this and he's a renowned cardiologist using diet for reversing heart disease. To make the kale, though, I microwave it for 2 minutes separately, then add it to the dish after I've cooked the dish. I make sure I have spices, but I have very quickly come to enjoy it. There was a period where it was not great, but now, after a few weeks, no problemo

Wondering if the “flush” of 50mg niacin supplement opens up the vascular system enough to produce greater quantities of nitric oxide in the short term?
@DoctorVMD
@DoctorVMD 3 ай бұрын
Niacin, or vitamin B3, is known for its 'flush' effect, caused by the expansion of blood vessels near the skin. This vasodilation is a result of niacin interacting with receptors in the blood vessels, leading to the release of prostaglandins, which then promote the widening of blood vessels. While this does increase blood flow, the direct impact on nitric oxide (NO) production is a bit more complex. The 'flush' primarily indicates increased blood flow rather than a direct increase in NO production. However, improved blood flow can support the conditions under which NO is produced in the body. Niacin has been studied for its cardiovascular benefits, including effects on cholesterol levels and vascular health, which indirectly support NO availability. For short-term effects, the niacin flush can indeed indicate vasodilation, but the relationship with NO production specifically is not as straightforward. Niacin's benefits for cardiovascular health and potentially supporting NO production are more cumulative and linked to its role in various biochemical pathways over time. If you're considering niacin for its vascular benefits, it's essential to consult with a healthcare provider, especially regarding dosage and potential interactions with other medications or conditions.

Great observation! Indeed, many foods rich in nitrates, beneficial for nitric oxide production, also contain oxalates, which can be a concern for individuals prone to kidney stones or with certain health conditions. Here are a few strategies to balance these nutritional aspects: Diversify Your Intake: Include a variety of nitrate-rich foods in your diet. While some may have high oxalate levels, others are lower. For example, arugula is high in nitrates but lower in oxalates compared to spinach. Calcium Intake: Consuming calcium-rich foods alongside high-oxalate foods can help reduce oxalate absorption in the body. Dairy or fortified plant-based alternatives are good options. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help dilute oxalates in the urinary tract, reducing the risk of kidney stones. Cooking Methods: Some methods, like boiling, can reduce the oxalate content in vegetables. Though it might also lower nitrate levels, it's a potential compromise for those concerned about oxalates. Consultation: If you're particularly concerned about oxalates, consulting a healthcare provider or a dietitian can provide personalized advice tailored to your health needs. Balancing nitrates and oxalates in the diet is about making informed choices that align with your health goals and conditions. Moderation and variety are key!

Aye maybe so but it's high in oxalates which is bad for your kidneys, but I believe you can get fermented beet juice products which are low in oxalates.🤔

So I don’t doubt NO….but science has Not figured out NO delivery. In fact as of 2023, this podcast is dated. Go look up this scientific discussion and one only finds overpriced lozenges this guy sells. Basically contradictory to his comments. Only 😢Profiting like every other KZfaq “expert” turned to scammer.

Ten weeks of sodium nitrite (80 or 160 mg/day, capsules, TheraVasc; randomized, placebo control, double blind) increased plasma nitrite acutely (5- to 15-fold, P < 0.001 vs. placebo) and chronically (P < 0.10) and was well tolerated without symptomatic hypotension or clinically relevant elevations in blood methemoglobin. Endothelial function, measured by brachial artery flow-mediated dilation, increased 45-60% vs. baseline (P < 0.10) without changes in body mass or blood

You're right, I just realized that Mario updated his favorite way to tackle ED and it's crazy! Although what he previously talked about was pretty decent, it was difficult to follow, I just go'ogled the latest in Mario Volpstein's Erections at Will, it's so much simpler and potent now!

I need to start kombucha for the good bacteria 🦠 😅 I just can’t stand the taste and I’m totally getting rid of mouthwash and adding toothpaste free of flouride
@DoctorVMD
@DoctorVMD 3 ай бұрын
Starting on kombucha for that good bacteria boost is a great idea! 😄 If the taste isn't your cup of tea (or kombucha!), you might want to try incorporating it into smoothies or mixing it with juices to make it more palatable. As for ditching mouthwash and switching to fluoride-free toothpaste, those are significant steps towards tailoring your dental care to your preferences. Just remember, everyone's microbiome and dental needs are unique, so listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional to ensure your choices support your overall health. Here's to making changes that feel right for you!
