Fantastic episode as always. I’ve always really liked Eddie Jones and I think what you see is what you get with him. Im a saffa and i love Eddie love his honesty and brazenness. I think Rassies advantage however is that leadership, owing to cultural complexity in South Africa is more finely honed - as leaders need to know to how to balance inclusion, team building and winning. No other country has to navigate these challenges.

Don't forget Eddie came in to the Springbok setup in 2007 to give us the added edge which assisted in SA winning that world cup. Eddie is a wirely old cyote and a great coach. He has won a world cup medal with SA, so he definitely is a winner and highly regarded by all his piers.

Oh what absolute BS ... he made zero difference in that Bok win, and has been hanging on the coattails of Jake's success ever since. Eddie achieved NOTHING on his own, getting fired from one high profile coaching job after another due to weak results, divisive attitude and poor media relations now that people have cottoned onto the fact he's nothing but a BS artist.

Everything Eddie has said about what he tried to achieve, sums up Exactly what Rassie and Nienaber achieved with the Springboks. Except the South African coaching staff, not only achieved it but proved their excellence. No player felt slighted because they were replaced. It was done for the greater good of the team and the ultimate goal. Back to back World Cup champions and four Webb Ellis trophy’s.

They, the Saffas, were given another stab at the world cup and Eddie as not supported by England. Leaving England in a quandary and then Aussie rugby decided to change tack, appoint Eddie at the loss of continuity that Rennie offered. The “Aussie Eddie project” should always have been the 2027 world cup. Rugby world cups are one in the board room. Waugh seems an inspirational choice as president. When you celebrate the bronze medal at Rugby World Cup you are on a hiding to nothing.

Are you talking about the semi final in the World Cup between nz and England .. if you are . Then you might need to check out few of these World Cup games ..all blacks v England 1995 .. semi final ..or 2015 quarterfinal nz v France ..we only put on 64 points that day ..or the semi final in 91 bewteen Australia and nz ..or 1987 semi final when nz put on 49 points in wales ..so yes I seen many more games better than day . Only been watching test match rugby since 1979 @@frankjonesy

As a man and a coach I respect Eddie and when listening to him I always found myself being inspired and feeling like if he was my coach I would run through brick walls, I could go to the well and drink and I could go again and again and we would reach the goal as a team and as an individual. When he talked I was silent as he had a way which inspired me and made me believe in away which is difficult to explain but sadly over time his magic and his words lost me, what could have been is still my thoughts and i struggle now to see where he can go and achieve what he set out for. A busted flush is the saying and I hope that’s not applicable just yet as I still like and respect him but he doesn’t inspire me like he once did.

Guy is well loved in the squad because of his transparency & how they deal individually with players. There probably isn’t anyone else other than Razor with that type of man management. Plus see for yourself how tight the entire squad is, even look at behind the scenes currently and on social media. When Rassie took over in 2018, he did away with A & B teams and probably built the best depth in international rugby. He wanted transparency & did away with racial quotas. The squad is made up of 33 people all from varying and many from vastly different backgrounds, different languages and contexts etc yet they were all able to pull in for one common goal beyond the divide.

The majority of the positive comments here (not in this thread) about Eddie are baffling. He’s a lying prick that mangled the WC for Australia. Awful selections, needless drama and all while knowing full well that he was going to Japan anyway. Total prick. The state that Japanese rugby is in, they deserve each other….

And the bloke is notoriously the most dictatorial coach around. Changes the game plan on these young blokes every week with the threat of being dropped or hooked after 38 minutes if they go off script. Then has the gall to complain that players don’t play what’s in front of them anymore. One sentence the sky is blue, the next it’s red with this bloke.
