The former B.L. England Generating Station at Beesleys Point is currently going through demolition with crew working daily on getting the land cleared.
In November 2021, the land was purchased by “Beesleys Point Development LLC,” who announce they would take the land and create a marina with shops, restaurants, a hotel, and a boardwalk.
In order to get the property ready, the LLC would have to spend $13 million to remove all the structures including the cooling tower, boiler units and smoke stack.
At this time, the only remaining part of the plant is it’s 400+ foot tall smoke stack, which crews say will be coming down soon.
While there is no official date on when the demolition will take place, we decided to take the Seagull into the sky to bring you a birds point of view before it’s demolished.

Make sure you are upwind when the stack is blasted. The same company just blasted 2 similar stacks in Pennsylvania. The neighborhood was wiped out and the tested the dust. Beside the respirable silica the dust contained heavy metals including arsenic and vanadium well over the state limits. They did the same thing in Little Village in Chicago and they were fined over $300,0000

It would be cool if they kept just the smoke stack and incorporated it in the plans for the future of the site. It's a great landmark and it would be good for the discussion of the history of the site.

Awesome drone view! It's really sad for me to see the power plant with just the smokestack left. I remember loving that smokestack ever since I can remember going to Cape May with my family every summer. They should keep the smokestack there for future generations to enjoy like I did. In my mind it will always be there standing proudly over the bay long after it's gone. Hope to see it one more time.

I worked there in the 90s, it was a great place to work! Retired in 1999. Was at the top of the lighthouse smoke stack many times. Sad to see it go... It makes me wonder what the area is doing for power these days, BL England plant kept Wildwood from browning out at peak times.

When i was little, I remember remember seeing it & the Beesley's Point Bridge on the way to Wildwood. You should do a drone over the bridge if there's anything left on it

My question is, why are the floating oil rigs are bad off the coast. They float, they haven't impacted the birds and aquatic life (yes there could be an oil spill however oil is leaking naturally in the ocean from cracks in the sea floor and eventually break-down since it is organic/naturally produced). But it is okay to put up tons of windmills in the migratory bird path, disrupts the aquatic life, and will barely last 10 years. In fact the first nor Easter cones through there will be nothing left. oh and how about the 40 plus whales that have died so far in the areas where this crap is going.

The wind turbines in the ocean are a disgrace. They don’t generate nearly enough energy to justify polluting the ocean with big plastic monstrosities. Not to mention the negative affects to wildlife and fish.
