You sure have been getting a lot of bloody rain, you definitely need a break so things can dry up. Those baby calves are so darn cute with those big old eyes and cute little noses, I like when they try to suck on your fingers, I wish I could snuggle a calf just once in my life lol. Hi from ireland like to compare the set up there to here in this video no difference apart from we to have dipose of fallen animals to a knackery legally, enjoy your fast paced videos ,hard work but enjoyable(most of the time) farming

How do you love an animal and are still able to cull it? I’ve had to put animals down because they were suffering. Once even with my bare hands to ease a chickens suffering, but culling is another thing entirely. Real question. Also, I don’t know what a herd would do in the wild, are cows supposed to have a baby every year? I have given birth 4 times in my life and it was so incredibly horrible each time. Babies are great, but labor and delivery not so much. I could not imagine giving birth every year!

It’s a hard dynamic, but in the end - they still serve a purpose. It doesn’t sit right with me to waste 1000+ pounds of beef, byproducts, etc because of attachment, in most cases. Like I said, a few have been buried here and special, but most don’t make it that long. Especially if they’re not carrying or raising a calf. Yea! Every single year.

Can you please tell me what slipped a calf means ? I’m new to cattle and I’m trying to learn everything. I have 9 and 3 new calf’s with 3 more calf’s on the way . Thanks in advance 😊

She lost her calf, aka a miscarriage or aborted calf. The ones I’m referring to were confirmed pregnant by our vet last fall but lost the calf some time after that this winter/early spring
