The fact that you put up with that shop without heat for as long as you did is mind blowing to me. I have a real hard time doing anything when it’s not comfortable. You won’t miss it. And I’m also glad to hear that you don’t have to brave the cold to get TO your heated shop. 👍🏻

You almost ruined my day! I thought you were saying goodbye for good. Thank you for using your Dewalt tablesaw for as long as you did. You made hobbyists like myself feel confident in making projects that I thought was only possible on the high end saws as seen by the “pros” Glad to hear you’ll be busy making beds, furniture etc because then we get more videos yayyyy! I can’t wait to see what you do with your new space/sections. I wish you and the family all the best, you have come a long way and you totally deserve it.

Shedding a tear for your old work space :( I love all the good work you do in your humble workshop with the simple job site saw (I've got the same one) and your work arounds. Makes me feel like making beautiful furniture isn't impossible and doesn't have to cost alot of $$$ in facny tools. Keep it down to earth. Looking forward to this new chapter in your life.

Congrats on the upgrade and best of luck on the move!! I too have been MIA because we moved and relocated the shop so I feel your pain. Although I’m upgrading to a cooled shop and you’re upgrading to a heated one. Ha! Be grateful you are assembling the SawStop and jointer in the new shop. I’m finding out the hard way that moving those bigger, heavier items to a new location is quite the challenge!

Congratulations! On the new shop! It looks like it is going to be amazing!! With heat! 😊You have inspired me and showed me that I to can create with wood! I was so lucky to have found your KZfaq channel at the beginning of my journey. I watched all of your videos many times over! Made most of your jigs even when I did not need a few of them but what I learned from you during the building process of measurement, cutting, glueing, etc opened other doors for me to learn. I will miss your old shop as I watched videos I looked at your shop to pattern my needs for tools and space in my small shop affectionately now know as Julie’s Sheshed 😊I actually purchased the same DeWalt table saw you have used off of marketplace and it served me well along with your crosscut sled (which is awesome by the way) sadly I had to retire it in December as the bearings were going and it was getting so noisy and potentially dangerous so I purchased my 3hp PCS sawstop with router table as a Christmas/retirement gift to me ! I love it! And yes the safety part played a big part in my decision making. Wishing you the best as you make the move and cannot wait to see the new shop and the project plans to come.

Brilliantly creative. My first shop tool was a 220v Craftsman 12" radial arm saw. I did everything on that tool, jointing, ripping, cross cutting, sanding. Problem solving is what it is all about. Platten press was a joisted frame with strong backs, clamps & 3" inflatable fire hose. It was slow but worked very well. Happy upgrading. Look for you soon.

Congratulations on the new house. I am looking forward to seeing your creative solutions to deal with all the crazy angles of the walls. Amazingly, it looks like your plan handles all the fundamentals. I know how you feel about retiring old jigs. Often I repurpose a scrap into a handle that I incorporate into a new jig. Others won't know but, it helps keep that link with my roots.

Good luck with the new shop. The one thing you didn’t mention in your tour was dust collection. When you bring a wood shop into the house, you will immediately notice dust that you ignored in the garage finding its way into the living spaces, particularly if the new house has forced air heating. I’m certain someone as creative as you are will find a solution.

Suggestion: build a "work bench" that fits between your planer and your table saw. I use it as an off-feed for the table saw and infeed for the planar. It helps to reduce snipe. 🙂

Congrats on the move! I recently moved to a house with a walk-in basement shop. You will really appreciate being able to put your hand on the table saw in the winter and not having to worry about it sticking there 🙂. On a serious note, the more time spent organizing the packing, the quicker the setup will be in the new space. If you can think about what will going where in the new space and pack according to that (not necessarily how it was in the old space) that will definitely ease the new setup. I didn't do that and had some help packing my old shop and am still in the “It's in a box somewhere” phase. Looking forward to seeing how the new shop looks and seeing the first project in the new house.

You hinted at "thigs to come" some time ago, it makes me grin to see it finally happening! You do things so well and it looks like your 10-year-old videographer is taking after you. Along those same lines, I wish a lot of young girls could see those few seconds where you talked about how you started and feel your pride as you held up your first jig. You might think, now, that it was poorly made, but you said it yourself: it made you feel good to have a problem and find a way to solve it! So many young girls need to hear that! (Since I'm "older," any female under 50 is a "young girl.") You do good, lady. 👍 (PS, I hope you consider putting that first jig somewhere in a place of pride. I think you might want to look at it again sometimes in the future. Or maybe make it a "trophy" to award when one of your kids does something they should take pride in?)

Congratulations on your new shop! We just moved too, and in my new shop I did something that I really like. I built three 30”x30” wall cabinets, with an open 12” cubby on the bottom. The cabinets are just 2” off the ceiling (ceiling height is only 8’ 🙁) and I needed that 2” allowance for my wonderful 8’ strip LED lighting. Then I built another 30”x30” wall cabinet with three 12” high cubbies on the bottom. I love these cabinets and their functionality. I hope you enjoy your new heated space and I eagerly look forward to more engaging videos! Rock on!

One thing that I’m curious how you’ll integrate into your new interior / house based shop is really good dust collection / air filtration. As you’re aware, dust can get everywhere, and having this potentially get into your home (via furnace or just through doorways, etc.) could be a real problem. Your tools are also fairly separated in the new space; how do you plan to run dust collection to all of them? Really looking forward to your upcoming videos, and I hope that you produce some showing the new shop build-out as it happens. That new SawStop table saw is going to be so nice for you. I was lucky enough to use them while taking woodworking classes at a local college, and the quality was superb compared to chintzy job site style saws I’d used previously, particularly the fence and ability to use dado stacks. There’s really no comparison. The same with using a high quality jointer. Keep your eye on the classifieds; many of these tools like jointers are built to last, and you can score some great deals occasionally.

Congratulations on your new home, shop, AND HEAT! Just my 2 cents, might want to rethink where you're placing the miter saw. Carting and moving long sections of boards is gonna get old old fast. Think about putting the miter saw as close to where you unload stock. You could go from unload, cut to rough, plain, joint in as few steps possible.

Good for you! I so feel you! I do every thing in my garage and in Texas it’s hot! This year I started my channel and it’s challenging. So happy for you and one day hope I get to make a video like this lol!

That is so awesome. Very happy for you and your family. Good luck with the move and we will see you at the new shop soon. About 6 years ago I wondered in to a housing community that was being built just to look. They offered a basement with a new build at that point I was sold. Since then my hobbie as a wood worker has grown so much. From trying to do some work in the back yard after pulling the stuff from the shed. To being able to work all Year long. Its been awesome watching your channel grow. Have a great day and keep up the awesome work.

Hey Tamar, so happy for you. All those upgrades - table saw and jointer. Being able to plan things as an experienced woodworker. I've followed you for several years now, and you are one of my favoritve KZfaq woodworkers. Along the way I've drifted away from many of the channels I used to watch, but 3x3Custom, along with some other great channels, can still exite me. Looking forward to what the new workshop inspires you to create.
