Sometimes, you have to choose to stop communicating with people ALL together. Including your own mother and family members at times. Because they can just bring you down, burden you, distract you, hinder you, and be jealous of you. Sometimes, you just have to just love people from a distance, pray for them, forgive them, and move on with your life. Even with tears in your eyes and confusion in your hearts.

@dietotaku yes, she invited her mother, she has to give a decent amount of respect that should be gvn to mom. Same goes for mom, having accepted the invite, she shd show a decent amt of respect. What kind of horrible person invites someone to an event, to bad mouth the invitee to the public? A good person will hope for the best behaviour from her guests but will apologise if guests disbehave, not speak ill of people before it even happened. Daughter drew first blood. Arguably, she maybe willed it to happen on a subconscious level by her actions. If the mom behaves like a troll, good for the crew and bridal business, they don't need warnings... Juicy & candid reality shows make money! abused victims don't have to become abusers. Violence begets violence. This bad learned behaviour that is usually generational can be stopped before it gets passed on to her descendants. Kindness is key. I guess we can't blame the poor bride at all. She had no good role model to learn good conduct from.

I would be ecstatic to be asked to come along to pick the dress. Whatever makes my girl happy! When my husband and I broke up, I tried really hard to make sure there was as little competition between us as I could. It’s not about who is right or wrong, or who is closer to the bride. It’s about her. It’s an honor to be included. A privilege, not a right.

My husband and I eloped so we wouldn’t have to put up with all that drama. My parents divorced unamicabily when I was five and it was a constant battle all the time. Then I would have had to put my in laws in the war zone which I wasn’t going to do. So I really felt for this young lady.

My grandmother's nickname was Midtown Motor Mouth and I could not have listened to her Mom spit venom like that without saying something. "Mouth of the South." More like just plain bitter. Her attitude's like unsweet tea in a can. I'm so glad her daughter stood up for herself. And her Mom can't call anyone boney when her own face looks more crusty than old cornbread.

I can see why her father split with this woman. He was an absolute gem of a father. His joy for his daughter made me tear up. The mother was an absolute witch though. I felt so bad for the beautiful bride for having to endure the insults. I can only imagine how she treated her child growing up.

I look at the lines on Mama's weather-beaten face and can see she has spent most of her life sneering, frowning, shouting, and rolling her eyes. That Mama has the visage of a Medusa. The people surrounding her turn to stone before our eyes. Everyone shuts down emotionally. It's downright scary. No wonder she's a Daddy's Girl. He's not a narcissistic git like the Mama.
