As a health care worker in the facility is scary, but hey, I love what I'm doing. I'm dealing with covid patients during pandemic and sad to say I got it too. Not once, not twice but four times and I'm still alive. Thank you, Lord. Who doesn't love this song, IKAKO? This is us, people. God bless SB19 for this song. More power to mahalima. We'll be waiting for more songs to come.

When SB19 goes viral it was late 2019. They supposed to have 10 concerts to 10 cities in the Philippines. But, they only finished 3 or 4, due to the lockdown. It was frustrating for them at first, but it didn't stop them. They came up with these online content and entertain most of us, when they released IKAKO, short for ikaw at ako, means You and Me, a lot of us felt uplifted during the dark times, when you can't even go out to eat, when you buy your groceries, you have to go like 5am to fall in line, since they only allow a few people inside the grocery. It was really hard then and SB19 made it less harder.

Hurraira you are right Justin sounds posh. He is the rich kid in the group and one SB19 mom said ( I cant remember if Stell’s mom) that he adjusted to not buy anything the others cant afford. That’s how he loves his brothers. He even shared clothes with them (mostly Pablo’s) and construction boots when he can afford to buy good ones.

Yeah tagalog has accents... there are regional ones like batangas, cavite, and bulacan as compared to manila, and also the accent of the people whose first language is not tagalog. The most observable difference is how often one utilizes the e and o sounds over the i and u sounds. Then within manila you have accents that relate to how well one speaks english... and how often does one utilize taglish. Fun fact: it is rare nowadays to find a person who speaks pure tagalog. Everybody uses taglish now in everyday conversation.

The pandemic was one of the worst times ever but it also produced a lot of gems. I don't think we would have something like the Ikako diaries if they were not forced to isolate. And the bts of Pablo composing it and the members adding their voices to it is a rare glimpse into how the sb19 magic is made. Imagine if we could have that for all the songs? Ikako on Wish Bus is fun too. The rap parts are not on the MVs. But it is a great addition.

Yes! Even Tagalog has different accents. Cavite, where Pablo is from has a more forceful pronunciation. Malabon, the hometown of Justin is more softer in tone and since it’s closer to Bulacan, they also have deeper tagalog words. Accent really depends where you are from. Even other languages here in the provinces have different accents and more noticeable when they speak tagalog. The Philippines is complex in more ways than one. 😊
@LeoCloma
@LeoCloma 9 ай бұрын
This is correct. (I am a Tagalog speaker from Bulacan, north of Malabon, less than 100 kilometers from Manila.) In addition, unlike some other Asian languages like those of the Sino-Tibetan family (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese) and of the Kra-Dai family (e.g., Thai, Lao) that are TONAL, Tagalog (and other Philippine languages like Bisaya, and other Malayo-Polynesian / Southeast Asian languages like Malaysian and Indonesian) tend to be STRESSED. "Stressed" means that specific syllables in words may have a greater emphasis in volume and / or speed (but not in tone or pitch). In addition, certain words that end in open vowels may require a "glottal stop" (sudden closure of the glottis at the back of the throat). Interestingly, both the stress and the glottal stop in Tagalog are formed in practically the same way as in English, which may make Tagalog easier than Chinese, Thai. or Khoisan (the South African "click" language) for native English speakers to learn.
@rachellara9067
@rachellara9067 10 ай бұрын
As you now know, Tagalog or Filipino, is our national language. But the Philippines has more than 170 languages and we have regional accents. People speak a different language depending on what province you are from. Even in places where Tagalog is widely spoken, you can distinguish the origin by the accent, i.e., Batangas Tagalog is different from Bulacan or Cavite Tagalog. We also have words spelled the same but spoken differently, giving it different meanings. The conjugation of verbs are somewhat mind-boggling.

I tried looking from your channel and was surpised that IKAKO from the Wish Bus wasn't there. Another nice IKAKO performance was from BYE 2020 (All performances there were some of my favorites). They also had a simple MV for this. I missed this baby version of SB19. The bony facial features of Stell and the crooked lower teeth. But some things never changed in him: fixing his hair to no end. I'm starting to think it's a gemini thing coz I've been with geminis and they do this all the time. They even said I'm allowed to ruin their lives, but definitely not their hair. 😅😅😅

Yes there are accents of Tagalog depending what region you come from, and even within Manila, there are like the 'socialite' accents that I really don't care for. Not sure what accent Justin has but when he speaks English, he has the strongest Filipino accent compared to the other 4. Ken has a slight Bisaya accent when he speaks Tagalog.

the first ever LIVE performance of IKAKO was the during the PhilKorFest2020: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftqTndepvZ6RkaM.html, and their first time being together after extended lockdown that's why they were so hyper active & chaotic here and I loved it. They also had a WishBus performance of IKAKO which was one of my all time fave and another version of this on the BYE2020 perf:kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qptlYN2E0tHXg40.html (@3:00 of the perf it says: "I 'd like to be with you, as long as I'm alive. My earnest wish, IF possible, that you won't be gone. I WILL be there for you, will face the battle together...forever. You are not alone.") this heart-warming lyrics from Pablo made many cry and I'm one of those. During pandemic were horrible times for me & my family and these words are exactly my earnest prayers for my elderly parents, unfortunately lost my Mom to covid she contracted it while confined in the hospital as a diabetic patient, shortly after lost my brother from aneurysm & before the same year ends my Dad were gone too, perhaps he was not able to take the pain that the love of his life and his first born were gone too soon. So listening to IKAKO always bitter sweet for me, can't help not to cry again. You know with SB19 no performance are the same with the other no matter how many times they will perform any of their songs we can be sure there's something amazing to look forward to. So enjoy watching them on your own or in one of your future RV Hurraira!

I thought Justin had a city accent too until I saw their Showbreak 5 ep 1 Bingo episode and noticed Justin actually had an accent when one of the chips fell again on something he had to do and suddenly said, "Ay, ako na naman IYAN". I was surprised he used the whole word which is quite unusual for the city and he said it with a different accent. But at the same time since he speaks so softly and with a malambing manner I also wondered whether they had Ilonggo roots?

Thanks for finally reacting to Pablo’s songwriting process. What I’d give to be a fly on his wall 😂 When i first saw this I must’ve reviewed it 100x. I was so fascinated 😅 Now about accents within the Tagalog speaking world. Yes, there are differences. Those who study at exclusive schools develop a certain accent and affectation- think valley girl speak. You can also tell when people are from less affluent backgrounds. Sometimes it’s the use of certain words that is the dead giveaway. Justin is very polite of speech so this tells a lot about his background. I’m not sure if posh would be the right adjective but he is definitely not from an underprivileged world. Pablo would be the one with the best knowledge of Tagalog because he is from Cavite. Ken would be the one who speaks with a marker accent in Tagalog as it is not his native tongue. Josh may have had some tough times but his accent is still refined which must be because he didn’t come from a poor family it seems. It’s just that they fell into hard times.

Hurraira, I would rather sit at the foot of his bed! I'll pay top money just to watch him, pick his brain in the process.😅 Justin has the " rich kid" accent! That is not a knock on him and all the other kids lijke him. He went to a private school/university(💲💲💲) and most of these schools back home develop an accent, a way of talking so that one can be identified an alumni of that school by the way they talk!😅Justin doesn't come off as a 'Rich Kid"-this is what I like about him This song hit my heart, remembering a lot of my colleagues in the Philippines getting sick with some even passing away (needlessly, I say!) I think Stell has the most beautiful jawline! and the most beautiful voice. That 'burp' did it for me! SB 19 is so worth it to stan!!!

In one of Ken's interview when puberty hits and his voice changed he stop singing for awhile. Then later on he found friends who sing and they got into those songs that is click to girls so that would probably when the R&B interest started. But when he got into dancing he enjoyed it more than singing. So they were basically all dancers most had background in singing except Josh and Justin. The training made them a well rounded performer not just as singer dancer but alao a bit of acting. The humor of course is all them a pinoy imprint😊 By the way the accent just for the tagalog alone is like American english, British and Irish accents. Josh and Justin would be the city boy accent, Pablo would be the general sound of tagalog region, Stell sometimes do batangueño accent while Ken sometimes have that heavy accent from down south but could also be soft and melodious (malambing) when he woo somebody.

about the language: YES. Filipino also has variety of accents depending on provinces and regions. Even on Region 4, where majority are Filipino and Tagalog speakers, they have different Filipino and Tagalog accents. those from Southern Tagalog accents are closer to Visayan Region Filipino accents. Northern Tagalog REgion speaks Filipino fluently and smoother... Filipino speakers in Manila (Metro Manila or National Capital Region) are more slanged, mixes of Filipino and English and other colloquials.

The Philippines has hundreds of language and yes, Tagalog has different accents based on location. The Juans are from bulacan who uses tagalog but with a completely different accent. And Pablo's tagalog ( he is from Cavite) is different from the tagalog in Metro Manila as well. Best example of this is Gento which he explained is common to them but as a person from Metro Manila, we pronounce it as Gan'to short for Ganito.

i'd say, we do have accents in tagalog depending on the person, their place or mothertongue are the usual factor of the differences. when it comes to enunciation however, i think it differs per person. and yes, i also noticed justin is really good at enunciating words that makes his tagalog sound really clear cause that's just how he enunciate words.

I don't know if you notice, the first version of Ikako, they do not have rap part and the last verse, it's shorter. The final version that was included in their Pagsibol EP is the last video that they performed during Acer Jam has rap and included the last verse with strings, making it more emotional.

I don't think you watched the Wish Bus performance - you watched another one (that I recommended lol). They sounded really good on the Wish Bus too, though! They did it the same day that they did Hanggang Sa Huli.

Filipino language or Tagalog as the national language really has no accent. The #1 rule in reading Tagalog is: HOW YOU READ IT, IS HOW YOU PRONOUNCE IT... follow the A, Ba, Ka, Da....the Filipino alphabet, where a's were pronounced as A in Apple. But accent varies if it is spoken by natives from other region. Then Tagalog will have a distinct accent when it is spoken by them.
