That press conference was heartbreaking but it's one of the the things that hardened the boys' determination to prove the haters and doubters wrong. As Ken once said "success is the best revenge." And I agree, they started off as a Filipino Kpop group, mostly because of the Korean company that handled and trained them. And getting out of that label was, I think, one of the hardest hurdles they have overcome.

I remember the Grow Up era, when they went viral for their dance video. As a Kpop fan, I was so amazed with them, a filipino who can match up with kpop. Then I begun watching their cover videos, the vocals, the dance line is so damn good. Just then, i know, if more people will open their hearts to them and know them, they will find a gem. These boys are going to places, little by little, they will make it bigger.

9:36 - This is the painful memory that makes every A'TIN angry. It's heartbreaking that SB19 did not even dreamed to be famous but just that they could live their dreams - creating music and performing with acceptable reception from people. They are survivors , weathering soul-piercing set backs: 3-10 live viewers, virtually zero audience performances in malls, and below-the-belt insults from media to name a few.

Hongganda: Hong + ganda. “Ganda” means beautiful. The usual Filipino phrase is, “Ang ganda!” Or, “Ang ganda niya!” (It’s so beautiful! Or, he/she is so beautiful!) So, Hongganda sounds almost exactly like the exclamation, “Ang ganda!” It’s a compliment to her beauty that people would give her that nickname. ☺️

Pablo answered the accusation of them being kpop wannabes. It was shown in another video of casualchuck: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jsujeqebzKyXZmg.html He basically said that they were not copying kpop but is instead influenced by it since as we know, kpop is popular at this time. Music is a universal language and we are all just influenced by music around us like how kpop was heavily influenced by jpop and american pop.

Actually it's really funny that they were accused of a Kpop wannabe. Pop music will always be pop music and all those terms Kpop Jpop Ppop are just indicators of the origin of the artists.

I cry each time I watch this. Their goal is to break in the Filipino music scene and is so deep rooted in different genre and style, so when new things and sound was introduced.... there was a lot backlash. But no one deserves to be treated the way they were treated, but it molded them to be strong and even more determined to be better! And to this day, they still learn new things and strive to be better. Pablo once said, please continue to support us and we will promise to always deliver performance today, better than yesterday! And I truly believe that they kept that promise. Love them so much ❤❤❤❤❤

That press conference was literally the exact time when I stan them! I have watched their Go Up video and definitely saw talent and potential but thought its not that great coz of the MV. Then months later and I watched this conference and when they performed "Hanggang Sa Huli" live on that stage, I was hooked. Definitely wanted to protect them at all cost! Hated that hack of a journalist for asking such an unprofessional question. Everytime I watch this press conference video it still triggers me on how rude and disrespectful that guy is at the boys specially Stell! 🤬

I've been to several press conferences with the entertainment media and yup, they could be harsh. Many of them thrive on being rude and making the interviewees uncomfortable. The one who made those irrelevant and anger-inducing comments and questions belonged to a legitimate newspaper publication. Even I tried to avoid him during our encounters coz he was simply toxic. I believe he already passed away. Anyway, i'm simply glad that SB19 persevered and has already proven the haters wrong. I just wish they'll reach greater heights through the support of A'tin and reactors like you. Thank you for your time.

Regarding your last statement, I honestly cried when Stell got nose enhancement, not because I'm against it in any form. I just felt like the constant bashing of his visuals back then made him decide to do it and I truly hurt for him. And would you believe that most of the bashing came from inside the fandom? But he doesn't need it at all because all of the people that have seen him in person even way back their early days that he looks unreal in person (even compared him to Superman) and that cameras don't do him justice. Like, you won't be able to take you eyes off of him no matter who your bias is. Those who bash him before haven't even really seen him in person. My only consolation is that what he did made him gain more confidence in himself but sadly, the bashing still continues and now it's about the nose enhancement which to some people here is still a taboo and yet again, a lot of the bashing are within the fandom. Like some people seriously need to get a life.

Thank you so much for putting down in words what I myself have felt. Stell has always been handsome to me-it’s why he has been my bias since I first discovered SB19 in 2020. It hurt that he felt he needed the nose enhancement, but I love seeing his confidence and I support him no matter what. I just wish that he would know that so much of his attractiveness is what radiates out of him from the inside-his kindness, his humility, his sense of humor, his respectful manner, his determination, and all that makes him who he is as a person. And when you add in his incredible talents in singing, dancing, choreography and teaching, what more could you want in a man (or for me, grandson😊)? I will always feel protective of him-not that he needs my defending.

Stell's singing talent is one in a million. I am a hotdog by Pablo's freezer, but i have to admit Stell really is the Sunshine Boy not just in humor, personality, but also vocally. I dont think theres any one in the boyband POP industry that can match up his singing talent.

It is not just you Hurraira. The boys were very respectful despite the rude questions. I was so mad I even wrote to the so called journalist in his instagram, who i would rather call a tabloid reporter. I cried how harsh they were to Stell...we all need a hug watching their initial struggles. Now we can just look back as the boys did who took it as motivation. I think this is why we love them so much. The positive outlook and the strength they have shown are so admirable...😊

ohmygod. that gay question. a lot of toxic media questions about being gay in presscons actually come from actual older gay men. it coincides with the filipino toxic trait that we perceive straight men to be a certain way, and any characteristic that goes out of that is a sign of homosexuality. these older gay men, sometimes force out the young gays out of the closet, coz to them, the struggles of being gay somehow validate the existence as a real gay person. in short, they're toxic and bitter old people who happen to be gay. also another toxic trait of filipino showbiz media: they think that these inappropriate questions are them being real journalists and asking the real journalistic questions, when in fact, they're just being shit stirrers. to them, they probably went home, thought nothing of it, and called it a job well done. They're purposefully harder on new artists and justify it by saying they're just readying them for the bigger stage.

That is one press con that I can't finish watching cause I don't know whether I'll cry or get enraged by the rudeness. There were actually 2 reporters who asked those rude questions. One of them was a veteran entertainment editor who passed away less than a month after that unfortunate incident. The other one remains anonymous to this day. Who knows, he might be one of those who worship Stell now.

I agree with your distinction between Kpop (1st-2nd Gen) and current Pop that just originated in Korea lol. The sound has certainly adapted a more global (slightly westernized) one. Reporters here vary in professionalism depending on their affiliation but since SB19 were just new and not backed by big media groups, they could afford to be audacious and rude, knowing they would suffer no consequences, such as being blacklisted from future events (especially since they didn’t expect the group to last at all). The whole interview is infuriating but nowadays, they’re given much more respect and have the freedom to choose which media outlets can be invited to press events.
