Gold is a precious metal that has been used as a wealth, ornament, and medium of exchange since ancient times. With the passage of time, there have been many changes in the use of gold. Today, gold is used in finance, electronics, medical devices, car manufacturing, and even the food industry, in addition to ornaments. In 2021, against the global demand of 4021 tons of gold, the supply was 4,666 tons. But, gold has been an expensive metal since ancient times, despite the fact that the supply is more than the demand. Currently, the price of one gram of gold is about 60 dollars, that is, the price of gold per bar is about 670 dollars. On the other hand, the price of 22 carats of gold per gram in Bangladesh is Tk 7,480, that is, the price of gold per load is around Tk 90,000. In Setulna, the price of 22-carat silver is only around 1500 taka. In today's video, we will explore why gold is so expensive.
