@@ScorpioTheScorpion1503 death note is absolutely NOT niche anime. Literally look up any top ten best anime or manga list on even the most basic non weeb websites and death note will be up there with stuff like cowboy bebop and dragonball z. It's because Liam picked such an obvious example of anime that people recommend that made them crack up.

At the characters in the death note series are set up so you can kind of buy that they're that smart. And while their plans are often revealed at the last minute, its established they still had plenty of off screen time to think of them.

yeah..they claim light is smart and they hate how it ends cause he got beat but he wasn't smart in episode 2 caught his ass and he got lucky with bs like the t,.v. in the chips bag?..still don't know how that worked...or another 2 notebooks appearing out of thin air and someone with shinigami eyes who is looking for him he can meet cause time passes as hes getting closer to being caught and a follower who was perfect in mikami and oh yeah his ego did get in the way cause he felt safe with L gone...the show likes to make the underdog in the scenario win..which is how L and Light both die..except L knew he would die as he states early on by showing his face he had lost and light thought he would succeed due to others then blames them for his mistakes arrogance...its so funny to me how people defend him and hate the ending..i think its fitting and makes sense and is hilarious..people really just want to see the bad guy win

I'm trying to watch it right now, but it's difficult. At this point (which is two episodes in), I'm concerned about whether or not I'm supposed to be rooting for Light. More specifically, I'm not sure if there is a reason why I should be rooting for him. He falls into his God complex way too quickly, with very little to establish him as a relatable or understandable protagonist.
@Yal_Rathol6 жыл бұрын
Scorpio The Scorpion light isn't the hero. the closest thing to a hero is L, and he's a neurotic megalomaniac. you shouldn't be rooting for light, you should be watching events unfold. you'll probably have a much easier time with the anime than the manga. you'll get to avoid pages where the text is most of the page and the images are smaller than the text boxes.

Haaa... This is one of those moments that only Woolie can create, for some unfathomable reason, where I look at my life, and I think, "I wish X didn't exist, so Y could be judged for what it is, and not what X is." I could launch into a counter-rant, but, opinions are opinions. So, I'll suffer in silence with the one thought this left me: "I wish 'Death Note', one of my favorite anime, didn't exist, so I would have never sat through this review." I'd rather have *nothing* at this point.

Ok, wish granted. I'm only a casual fan of Death Note, and this movie was, on it's own, one of the worst god damn things I've ever seen. The fact that it exists means the human race, collectively, is one step closer to whatever hell your religion threatens you with. It is a poorly acted, poorly shot, poorly written mess, with plot holes and contrivances out the ass, that would've been laughed out of the room had it not had the name Death Note attached to it. It is, in every sense of the word, The Last Airbender, Death Note edition. Here's an example: With the Death Note, in the movie, it's established you need a first name, a last name, and a face. How, then, did Light control Watari, with just the name 'Watari' and his face?
@WonderGamer1016 жыл бұрын
Oh my God, I didn't even notice that, what the fuck.

People often mistake what is good about Death Note (the original). People think that what is good about it is the Death Note itself, how it kills people just with a face and name, and how much power the owner has. That's not what makes Death Note good. It is the battle of wits between Light and L that makes the series good. The Death Note is just a narrative tool to tell a cat and mouse story, and that is what makes the series so entertaining. So the movie, if existed by itself, already loses the point of a detective story and how it should be. it focus too much on the Death Note and it's Final Destination deaths, and not on the game played by the killer (Kira) and the Dectetive (L). I doubt the Movie would catch as much attention of people if was just a movie about a notebook that can kill people if the original didn't existed.

*THE GOOD* -The guy who plays L was good. -The guy who plays Watari was good. -That scene where L confronts Light about Watari as Light maintains his composure was good, it was something I would've expected to happen in the anime. -Light's father was okay. -Although kind of distracting, the excessive death scenes were pretty entertaining. *THE BAD* -Mia pissed me off the entire movie. -Light was a pussy. -The writing is cringey edgelord bullshit. -The reason for Light and Mia hooking up was stupid. -The Aizen twist at the end was stupid. -The movie doesn't really demonstrate how Light was a genius. They only show him doing other people's homework and that was it. 4/10 not good but not straight up dogshit either.

making long anime series into one live action movie in america is bad unless they copy it to a T which makes the adaptation pointless cause theres already that story in manga and anime form...whats the point?...like you can change things but then your just using the name for views or you copy it and its pointless cause its already material we seen ...why make it then at all?..to me you can make a 75% similar movie with 25% changes to smaller things and get away with it...never go full evolution or death note never remake the show or arc into a movie....do halfsies

I wonder what the sequel would have been. Where could it have gone? Everyone knows Light is Kira, L is deranged and has a page from the Death Note and could just kill Light. They wouldn't be able to keep any of the cat and mouse stuff anymore.
@WonderGamer1016 жыл бұрын
They'd probably make L the new guy with the Death Note, and he'd resist the temptations of the Note, until he starts to solve crimes by killing people, soon realizing that he's just like Light and he needs to be stopped, but then there's like some demon magic that'll just make L keep on killing, until he delivers a final message to the world saying that if they find the Death Note, they should never, under any circumstances use it. And then L just writes his real name in the Note and the movie ends with a nice big bow wrapped around it. That took me like a minute to think up. I don't what that says about me.

Regarding Death Note story, it should perhaps be graded on a parabola, as in the first few arcs are good, but then it goes waaay downhill just after the Radio Station... and I think that is when they introduced Mysa Mysa, who mostly represents a shift in Death Note from being a serious story to some type of 'Super-friends' get together. Then it picks up again after 'Super-friends' wraps up. Nearer the end it becomes sort of like 'Dark Knight Returns' the Frank Miller comic, but I did enjoy the ending episode, which does its best to wrap the story back to what the series started off being about, which is about as good a praise you can get for a plot and tone that changes wildly. I actually binge watched the entire anime in a single day, so the inconsistent tone definitely stood out, as I was worried it would go off the rails entirely, but the great, consistent tension in the first big chunk of episodes is absolutely why I stuck with it to the ending.

If Matt didn't do the same fucking thing during gameplay, over any and all cutscenes, or anyone else talking. The guy is an attention hound, and an egomaniac. Everything has to be about him, all the time. It's why he made a second LP channel, so he could be in every video on TBFP, and be in Max's videos, but that's not enough, he needs MORE attention, so he has to be in MORE. "But Woolie made a second channel first" as all the fanboys like to say, to which, yeah, a second channel discussing purely fighting game shit, (not playing), and table-top. Not LPs.
