I'm just baffled that a show starring Seth McFarlane is more sci-fi than the show whose franchise is the pinnacle of sci-fi
@DarthEnderX6 жыл бұрын
Because McFarlane actually LIKES said sci-fi franchise. While the people making STD don't really care about it outside of the recognition the name provides them.
@theycallmejojo60906 жыл бұрын
as much as I hate McFarlane, at least this show demonstrates that it cares about star trek to some degree.
@WTFisTingispingis6 жыл бұрын
It's actually really fucking good, like it feels more like Trek than Trek does now.
@PK_Scratch6 жыл бұрын
For the issues with STD. Blame pandering to a group while disregarding the whole history of the show which actually nulls out any outcry by said group being pandered to.
@BloodRedFox20086 жыл бұрын
FYI, Seth McFarlane is friends with Patrick Stewart. Stewart is a regular voice actor in American Dad (and American Dad hasn't suffered the seasonal decay Family Guy has) and he was also the narrator in Ted.

When Seth MacFarlane is better at Star Trek then an actual Star Trek show.

Alonzo Tompkins I mean, he grew up on TNG, so it makes sense

Like any other STD, Star Trek Discovery is unpleasant and should be avoided.

TheSimCaptain and like most STD's probably immortal and unlikely to kill you, despite the bellyaching you may hear.

"They lay eggs, so don't ask me how they're not female." Presumably, it works the same way that it does with Asari and Namekians - they are single-gendered hermaphrodites.
@zeterzero43566 жыл бұрын
Except they obviously have different genders and alter their female off spring at birth. So...
@Samm8156 жыл бұрын
That means they don't have penises right, Vegetta?
@rossman89196 жыл бұрын
male seahorses give birth also asari are mono gendered, thet are all female who mate with magic telekenetic powers and cant get pregnant from meaningless sex, i wish they were real
@effluviah75446 жыл бұрын
I mean, I have no idea. I'm transgendered, and briefly I was like, wait, does this mean there's a species where transgenderism is like just universally a thing? Maybe the ones that are born "male" are "female" due to a trans-based societal gender construct system? I don't know?????????? I'm thinking so hard about this lmao this show really IS more like Star Trek than Star Trek
@suddenllybah6 жыл бұрын
Well, looks like they are multiple gender hermaphrodites. I am reminded of Oglaf using basically the same idea. I'd kinda reminded of Enemy Mine in so much as a nominally non-sexed race is very misogynistic.
@theguyinthecorner6056 жыл бұрын
It's hard to remove Seth's stupid Family Guy voice from my head whenever he talks, but objectively, his bassy voice conveys a command tone rather well. Kind of reminds me of Pike (TOS). Also Episode 6 is the shit holy crap it's so good. Just wish they could have a semi-focused narrative like DS9 or some of the story arcs in TNG.
@Yal_Rathol6 жыл бұрын
theguyinthecorner seth does so many voices, it can be hard to tell which one is actually his and not another character.

I think my favorite episode I've seen so far was the robot and the doctor were stuck on a post apocalyptic planet with her kids. So they get split up and thr doctor is held captive by this survivalist wacko right? And the planet is overrun by these virally infected crazy people. The kids and the robot meanwhile are a good distance away. Normally this would be the robot being messed up and the kids having to save their mama and it's super cliche shit. NOPE, Doc busts out and winds up saving herself. It's so good.

I was ready to accept STD for what it was, until I saw the scene where the discovery does DBZ instant transmission in a space battle. what the shit

The Orville is pretty good, but Seth McFarland doesn’t register in my brain as funny, he just kinda says things until he leaves

orville being star trek next generation defies common sense. why not have star trek next generation 2, same cast of characters with younger actors. hell seth could even play picard

John Reid Trek didn't always have a spotless design either and it's been around for fifty years.
