They devide it as main vocalist, lead vocalist, sub vocalist, and even rapper (excluding their dance ability, their individual charm for center or variety star, etc). That's what a "group" supposed to be. And for Starship to push them in sub-unit, I think that's because Starship saw their potential and improvement and want to show us as a fan, that "this member" has a charm or diversity they wanted to push without really "change" their main group's concept.
