From back in May 2020. Engine maintenance begins! Pulled apart the front of the engine and found an issue along the way. Helicoil here we come!

It’s a blast of a car! Mine has about 188k miles on it now. Had around 183k when I replaced the timing belt.

Does the hydro fan have a separate pump or is it run by the water pump? Im confused on whether the hydro pump and water pump are the same thing
@elementalcivik2 жыл бұрын
The hydro fan has its own dedicated pump, reservoir, and cooler. It bolts essentially in front of the water pump. On the LS400 with the “regular” fan, this is the same bracket location as they used for the hydro pump on the SC400. So I was able to get a pulley assembly from an LS400 and replace the hydro pump that way, while still keeping normal drive belt routing

Seriously... I rebuilt a vq35de and it's running. First engine I've ever tore apart down to the head gaskets. Apparently it was a successful rebuild because it's still running 25k later. I'm looking at a sc400 with 200k miles. I'm assuming it's gonna need this same rebuild you've done. Question is how difficult was this?? 1-10 1 being a weed eater rebuild 10 being space shuttle rebuild

Really a pretty simple timing belt to replace. If you’ve been inside another engine and have that level of knowledge, probably like a 3-4?

Awesome to hear, get that car sorted and rolling! I believe everything including factory coolant and seals and such was around $700. Just the timing and water pump kit was in the $350 range.

@@elementalcivik quick question so blue/white smoke started coming from the exhaust when I turn on the car. Do you have any idea of what it could be?
@elementalcivik3 жыл бұрын
@@darkghostmist6411 Typically, a blueish smoke indicates some raw fuel in the exhaust that isn’t burning off during combustion. Leaky injectors, or running super rich can cause that, among several other causes. Greyish smoke is usually excess oil getting into the combustion chamber. Straight white smoke can be coolant, or just a little white smoke on a cold morning during warmup is normal.
