Watch us unbox and setup our new SCA 150 gallon aquarium. We're setting this up as a freshwater growout tank for our monster pond fish!

Great looking tank, stand not bad. The sump looks to be wall to wall with the stand. thank you for taking the time to show us.

Ya if it was running it as a reef I would rather have a big more room under the stand beside the sump. But for this setup it works great

You probably figured this out by now, but gluing the overflow plumbing into the bulkheads usually leads to maint problems. Usually just leave them press fitted so you can take em out to do various maint tasks or replace components.

Sweet tank but I strongly recommend keeping your heater in any other chamber over the return area as it can run dry and overheat/burn. Super common issue

Ya that makes sense. But I’d rather not have it with my bio media. And I run an ATO so unless that completely fails the chamber will never run dry. I’ve been running reef tanks like this for years without issue. I do see what your saying though and appreciate the advice!

How many gallons is your sump? Can you give dimensions, please? Tank looks great!

Just came across your video. I am curious why you didn't wash (rinse) the sand before placing in the tank? Wouldn't that have greatly reduced the haze at the startup?

Yes it would have. But since i still had to cycle the tank I wasn’t worried about it taking a while to clear up

Did you not get the canopy with it? I thought PNP systems come with the canopy? I could be wrong. How tall are you so I can get a reference? lol

I can’t remove if it’s just an add of that I didn’t choose or if I requested to not have it. Either way, I didn’t want the canopy. And I’m about 5’11” haha

That’s a good looking tank. I’ve heard some quality issues with the stands. How’s it holding up in your experience and is there anything you would change?

I still love it, seriously no issues at all. I heard about the stands too but when i was looking into it I found out they fixed the issues. The stands are solid wood now and super nice 👌

whats wrong with the stands ive had my sca 150 up for 4 almost 5 years it survived a 6.4 earthquake lost about 20-30 gallons of water and about a month later i think was a 5.4 walked my stand about 4-5 inches and its still holding up fine

How many people lift was that tank? Did you remove the center braces to get the sump in? I’m about to order this exact setup.

2 people can lift it if you have suction cups. Ya it comes with the center brace out then you add it after the sump is in. Still super happy with this setup, you won’t regret it!

@@ALifeExotic how the fit and finish on the stand? Gaps between joints / panels? I’m really ocd and I e seen marineland stands and those look like garbage. Finish on the isnt consistent, mothered edge’s have gaps etc. etc.

It came with the tank as a whole setup! It’s from SC aquariums

You realize, your not supposed to glue the drain piping into the bulkhead inside the tank…. You need to be able to remove them to clean out the overflow. The only o e that can be glued, is the return pipe
