I really appreciate Eduard 1/48 scale models for it´s beautiful surface detail. I love Tamiya, but in these regards it falls short sometimes. On the other hand Tamiya 1/32 scale WWII birds have best surface detail I´ve seen. Awesome work on these models, always pleasure to watch your work!

Fantastic job! Great video. Format was excellent. As a side-note, when you mentioned the Zvezda not having lowered flaps, it spurred me to go take a look. Sometimes people complain, but when you look at the real aircraft, the flaps were always up or always down. So I looked at quite a few references. I ruled out museums, because they might "lock" the moving surfaces for safety reasons. What I found? Bf109Gs are all over the place when it comes to parked flap position! Many have them up, even if no one is working on it. Others have them all the way down, somewhere in between, and some just barely lowered. Bottom line - anything goes! Not an issue to influence the judgement. :)

Great video! Two things though 1. You dont have to add anything to have the slats down on the Zvezda kit and 2. The slats on the bf 109 are gravity operated and are always down at low speed and of course on the ground. The only time you would model them retracted is in flight mode. Nice builds!
@robertmoe2937
@robertmoe2937 4 жыл бұрын
The leading edge slats on the Bf-109 operate off of airflow, opening and closing depending on the angle of attack, not gravity or speed. As the angle of attack of the wing increases, the stagnation point of the airflow moves lower on the leading edge of the wing thereby allowing the slats open. While stationary on the ground the slats would remain in whatever position they had been left in, and they could be manually pushed closed or pulled open for preflight checks and maintenance.

Very nice Video!!! My Congratulations !!! In Russia, all modelist's say that Zvezda's kit is the best "Gustav" and "Fridrich", nice detailed, low price, has engine and gun bay, but i don't think so. In my opinion this kit is weak, after seen this video, i like Tamiya kit, but it has Strange Engineering of details. My choice is Eduard kit, nice detailed, PE parts, great Decal, rivet's, possible to buy amazing eduard Resin Engine, and f....k it wrong geometry ))))!!!! Thank for Video !!!

Looks very scary but it is managable^^ just slap it on kind of sloppy and then adjust it with a toothpick. And use enough water to make the decal easily slide! Another option is to use 1mm masking tape and just paint the nose swirl yourself without the decal:)

@@wolfie54321 you are right, with "normal" masking tape its very tricky, but there is also masking tape which is flexible. With that kind you can easily follow the curve of the nose.

Do you have a preference or ranking which one is your favorite and why? Detailedness, overall quality, decals, or which one's plastic may be too brittle, or faulty parts, lack of detail or general errors in the model. Something like that.

You can find the same model under many brand names. I think it's a standard design in China. Only 0.2 and 0.3 nozzle difference is more than good quality airbrushes. 0.3 is really very rough, 0.2 is enough to work on details.

I actually prefer the look without the pronounced rivet detail that the Eduard kit has. I've just had a look at some really hi-res photos of the Bf109G6(with added Galland canopy) that is at the Canberra War Museum in Australia. This aircraft is the only unrestored one left, wearing original wartime paint. Guess what- they were, like all WW2 aircraft, flush riveted! At 1/48 scale there should be the barest suggestion of them, certainly not deep indentations, like you find on a lot of new toolings these days. Same with the fuselage vertical panel lines- barest suggestion of them- certainly not darkly accentuated. I already had this impression from video of the Messerschmitt Stiftungs 109G6 - but that's a rebuild -the photos of the original-which I have seen myself-only confirm it. BTW- buying the Zvezda kit tomorrow! So cheap here in Riga!
@marekszewc1629
@marekszewc1629 6 жыл бұрын
I gotta go Zvezda - I got 2 Eduard's Bf 109 G (6 Mtt Reg. and 14), and I'm disappointed, especially with fitting wings with fuselage. And rivets make work harder. Zvezda looks like great balance between Tamiya and Eduard - more detailed than Eduard (cockpit, engine - things I love!), but easier to build than Tamiya (ofc. Tamiya's fitting gonna be as always better than anything). Only thing I miss in Zvezda is that you can't make Erla build plane. But that's different story.

There is only one way that I know of to contact the creator of a Channel. You can go to their channel by clicking on their Icon. When you are on the channel homepage there will be a little bar just beneath the theme art at the top of the page that will read from left to right: Home, Videos, Playlists, Community, Channel and About. Click on about. under the Details section there some text that says "For business inquiries". Click the "View email address". It will then have you click a box to verify that you're not a robot. Then click submit and you should be able to view the email associated with that KZfaq channel. Email them and ask about possible collaborations. That is the only way I know of to contact them. Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to give clear instructions. Thanks, and keep up the good work! (I am now starting to be a little self conscience of my Minecraft Icon as I haven't played it in years, and makes me look like I'm 8 :) )

Zvezda has a two pluses - photo etching "micro design" and the cost (With them, they can overtake the tamiya in details) Eduart in non-competition. Tamiya is just the perfect middle for me. To be honest, I've never seen a photo of etching on Tamiya products.
@Leptospirosi

Shape wise, pointing out that three kits are leaps above everything else on the market, I'd rate Tamiya as third (weird cowling bulges and oddly (slightly) bulbous fuselage profile behind the wing section, above and below, a bit overdone propeller nose cover); Zvezda spot on for fuselage (except on the belly, where the wings connects, buit this may be due to assembly difficulties) , may be a bit thick wing trailing edges near the fuslealge; Edward (2,0) rather spot on and little to complain, may be a little less detail then Zvezda in the landing gear area). Put against everything else (except the old Otaki), these kits finally bulseye the area of the fuselage right seen in plant, where it connects to the wing trailing edge, with everything going on between the first and the second ring. The Bf-106 is an extremely complex simple shape airplane!
