Thank you Dusan, That's the nicest tricolor paint job I've seen on KZfaq. I'm using it as inspiration for my F4U-1A Corsair build. Chipping (yay real chipping!) and post shading are superb.

SBD-5 was last used on the U.S.S. Enterprise and the Essex class U.S.S. Lexington. It was preferred by many over the SB2C Curtiss Helldiver. I prefer old Monogram 1/48 pilot figures and cutting tools for a landing gear up version.

I started building planes (two Lancasters) in 1/72. But now I'm looking to go up to either 1/48 or 1/32. I might get this kit, as the SBD is one of my favorite WW2 aircraft.

Academy has come a long way. Last time I built one of their kits was late 80's and they were terrible. Might have to give them another go by the looks of this.

Love this kit! I've probably built 5. Ex-accurate mold. Take you time, follow the instructions and do alot of test fitting, you are rewarded with a beautiful kit.

If it's a great kit, why is "a lot" [two words] of test fitting necessary?
