Hi KZfaq,
In this video I'm building the Tamiya 1/48 Messerschmitt Me262 . I will be using mainly Scale Modellers Supply, Mr Hobby, Tamiya, VMS, Ammo by Mig and Abtielung 502 products.
Please see some useful links to products below:
scalemodelshed.co.uk/product/...
scalemodelshed.co.uk/product/...

I have not been paid by any of the companies mentioned to promote their products. All products have been paid for by me personally and promotion is for information purposes. However I am a hobby shop owner and I do sell most of the products mentioned to the public.
If you are down in the South West UK, you are always very welcome to come in and see me at the shop. scalemodelshed.co.uk/visit-us/
I hope you enjoy the video.
Happy modelling
Andy

It is not a perfect build to the person who built the model. It IS a perfect build to all who did not build the model. Incredible work.

I'm 66 and now live in Seattle. Back in the mid 70s I would ride my motorcycle to Chino airport and for a small fee I could go into any restoration hanger I wanted and could touch and go into any plane that was there, and one was their Me-262. I was fascinated by the lawn mower pull starter on the front tip of the jet engine nose cone. It actually started a two stroke engine which help turn over the jet engine to start. To this day I have a small service door round cover from that Me 262 that was lying on the floor. I got to see so many famous planes long before they were restored including a AM-6 Zero and the original small orange prototype flying wing. Decades later I got to see that very same AM-6 Zero restored and fly over my house in Seattle in 2010 during Seafair. Great stuff.

@@emerykinzie794 Thank you for your comment... Decades later I now with a family moved from LA to Seattle in 2000 where I found by pure accident/rumor of a restoration hanger owned by Paul Allen. Few people knew of this place all you had to do is find this tiny unmarked door on this huge hanger, open it and it was Chino all over again. To my shock and my kids who are airplane nuts like me, many airplanes that went missing in LA parks were there! One was the Navy Vought Corsair that I used to climb on at Griffith Park. And better yet they were restoring a Wild-Cat and my first thought was that some day Chino's AM-Zero and the Wildcat would fly together.. My dream came true when both the Chino Zero and Paul Allen's WildCat flew over our house on Mercer Island during a Seattle Sea-fair event. Needless to say I was with my children and they were totally aware of their restoration history. I was in tears. Unfortunately after Paul passed away and the hanger turned into a fancy no touch museum and no longer can you just wonder in willy-nilly. It is a great museum non the less. I also discovered that we lived just a couple blocks away from Paul Allen's shore front home on Mercer Island. I only discovered thos as I got to know several of his staff. Small world. A year after they shut down the tiny door, the kids and I drove around the Paine field airport and discovered the hanger where they were restoring a ME 262 and again you could go in and actually touch the ME jet and talk with those restoring the jet. I told them about the ME at Chino and were shocked that I knew any thing about it. Enjoy, ( : Dan

One of my favorite things about your videos is you aren’t afraid to post mistakes and how to fix them. I think that’s ultimately more encouraging for views to really go for the gusto on their own builds versus seeing some slick edited video that makes it look like everything goes off without a hitch.

I visited this shop yesterday The first thing I noticed was how clean the shop was 1st there is a fabulous collection of models from planes to tanks to ships to other various model kits 2nd outstanding selection of all model paints made by various makers 3rd also selection of modelling tools and tape 4th was how the owner took his time to help with enquiries and also helped me with a tape I never knew about to help me with masking so it doesn't peel off paint work I had already Also say he's prices are extremely competitive all I can I say is this store is well worth the visit we travelled over 60 miles he had everything I needed I can assure you that will be the only place I will be getting all my modelling needs in future whether it's online or going in person if I had to score it would be 10 out of 10

I'm glad you went back to fix the front windshield. You know it's just of those things that when you finish a build you keep looking at until it drives you nuts . Looks 100% better ! I see Tamiya has reissued the Me262 with the Kittenkrag tow tractor as a package deal as well as few other classic combo's! The prices are well below what people were getting for them online ! Your beautiful Me262 will be one I'll be picking up !

Hah, the bit with the resin engine reminded me of my attempt to integrate one into a HobbyBoss 1/48 Me-262, and my hare brained scheme to separate a section of resin engine from its pouring plug using a scalpel blade...that finally decided to go straight through it and into my palm. Fun times, lol, and lesson learned 😋

Great result Andy and well done with all that tricky effort to put right the areas you weren't happy with. As for the strap hanging outside the cockpit I always think which careless so and so left the aircraft like that! the wind will make the buckle rattle against the airframe and chip the paint. Always a black mark in today's world but I suppose the least of the Luftwaffe's worries at that stage of the war.

I really enjoy your builds and especially enjoy seeing you make stupid mistakes. I feel so much better about myself! 😎. Thank you for being transparent and seeing what it takes to recover. Also, us “regular” model builders often think when we have a problem, “oh shoot! I screwed that up (like the canopy gap in yours). So yes! Even Tamiya provides us with challenges that is not our fault. One more thing …can you keep up the text of your product description longer please.

The me-262 was also a night fighter that would be mostly black. the most advanced aircraft in the world in 1945 and were used with extreme brutality and lethal aircraft. If your found by your in big trouble.

Wonderful model. Having worked on the real thing and built the full size flying replica's. That's a great job. Not to be a ball buster. Gear down and parked the automatic leading edge slats would be down. I know the model makers did not mold them in the wings to be out, I will guess? Love the detail Jumo 004's and cockpit. Gun sight a Rev 16?

Great work on the red and blue markings: not worth painting the crosses too? I've started painting markings at 1/48 for no other reason than we go the extra mile with colour and tone variation in the paintwork only to lay perfect paintwork water slide transfers over the top. The paints used for markings were affected by environmental conditions and maintenance just like the paint on the rest of the aircraft. I've not yet invested in a vinyl cutting machine but I've had great results with tamiya tape so far and just treated them like the rest of the paint when it comes to chipping, sanding, 'blooming', and all that.

If I'd built the model and was confronted by the bad gap in the end, my first though would have been "Nah". Quickly followed by "Fixing this will probably ruin the build". So the final score would have been Gap 1x 0 Me. But that surely makes me an exception.

Excellent build! So that panel that's part of the cross, I assume it was cannibalized from an Me-262 that was too damaged to fly, which accounts for the misaligned crosspiece. Even so, I'll bet that drove the pilot and crew crazy given how meticulous the Germans were.
