Many thanks, finally I think I understood. What misled me until now were the phrases like "C major scale" and alike, while actually it is somewhat inaccurate shortcut of "major scale in C key".

That was so eye opening! A lot of things finally clicked. Parallel and relative modes really cleared understanding of modes. Playing around a lot lately with getting out of the diatonic "cage" and this lesson helps a lot in clarifying how to use modes for that. Still not fully understand how one determine a song key if there is a lot of modes used and you don't start on the tonic? Spending a lot of hours on your teachings and practicing them. A gold mine of knowledge no less. Incredible contribution to online aspiring pianist and musicians Thanks you!

A future lesson could be about: When is it better to attach chords to the bassline or rather to the upper voice? For example to harmonize a melody, inventing a unique, homophonic chord progression, learning the diatonic inversions over scale tones, for ear training (figuring out harmony) or singing exercises... Greetings

If I understand the concept of Ragas right, then there is a very famous example in Western Music. And that is the second tetrachord of the minor scale. Downwards minor and upwards melodic minor to avoid the "1 1/2 tone step" of harmonic minor. Dorian is in between. String instruments can even produce 1/4 and 1/8 tone steps in such melodies. There might be examples in Jazz/Blues/Rock.

Hi Jason, I'd like to ask you about a certain piano lesson. I know you are probably busy, I really don't want to bother you, this is just idea, so maybe you could consider it. I really cannot find any lesson on the internet about writing my own arrangement of a song. I know you have made some similar lessons, that might contain parts of it, like left hand laws, building a melody and embellishing it, but making own cover of a given melody is topic stunningly not talkt about enough and I think it's one of the most desired abilities nowadays. I really do believe, you can teach us a lot about that. Thank you as always for your amazing job, God bless you ❤️sending love
