Hi Ledg. Nice livery. The color nearly matches the original color that is was deliverd back in the 70`s. We went 1978 with our school-class to Wolfsburg, where the VW Golf 1 was built. Nice watching them being built then. So the driver-seat was on the left side in the US. Well, as you know, here in Germany it is on the the left naturally, because it was Made in Grmany. 🙂 I never got over the Name given by the Americans, nameing it Rabbit. But yeah, they also gave the Audi 100 the Numbers in the 1000`s like Audi 4000 and what not. lol Bigger was better I guess. 🙂 On the outside of the factory was a vending-machine, where you could buy a Golf in 1:43 scale from Schuco. I got one, but don`t have it anymore. My cousin got it from me, when I was older.

Yes, this is presentable. One of my first cars was a VW Polo which was similar but looked more like a mini estate car or break. It had been my mother's car. This was fine as a run around until someone with a trunk full of Christmas holiday travell kit hit some ice in Worcestershire on some duelled section of road and from the opposite direction lost control, crossed the central reservation and then fish tailed to swipe the near or driver's side front end. I managed to drive back to where I needed to be with this but the vehicle was adjudged a commercial w/o. Here with the Scalextic I may witness that the font on the UK licence plates is 'off' and strictly white only front headlights for authenticity. We had yellow in France through into the 1980s but since then all white only and with halogen finding as today's standard. As I recall, the factory colour on these was more of a burgundy or else a wine shade of red or otherwise maroon. Would I want one from Scalextric? Well, a great one for the grandstand spectator parking lot or maybe a quick trip to the local supermarket or mall but I don't rightly bother with any of this when I set up. Oh, and I never wore a shirt, tiel and jacket when it came to driving anything like one of these either and so no, the driver was never modelled on me 😂🤣😀

Hi Marty, it sure was. I ran a lot of those in the 1980`s. The Golf 2 GTI was even faster and a little wider, because the fenders were wider. It was big fun runnig them. Today you can still get them used here, but often they are in lousy conditions. The latest edition of the Golf appeared in 2019 which is the Golf XIII. The Golf 1 did cost in 1974 a bit under 7.000 German Mark`s, which would be about 13.280 €`s today. The latest XIII in the basic edition will cost 23.337 €`s today.

Looks really quick, with some mods this would fly. So. E of the cars do have plastic between the car and case.
