THIS STORY:
James Fisk Jr. known variously as "Big Jim", "Diamond Jim", and "Jubilee Jim" - was an American stockbroker and corporate executive who has been referred to as one of the "robber barons" of the Gilded Age.
Fisk had a relationship with Josie Mansfield. Mansfield was considered a voluptuous beauty by Victorian standards of female desirability.
But it was this relationship that would lead to scandal and heartbreak...and ultimately his end.

_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

*"The other (shot) found his stomach, right in his huge belly. How could you miss it?" Ron, I was drinking soda when I heard you say that! Do you know how uncomfortable it is when soda goes down the wrong pipe? Well, that belly laugh was well worth it. Thanks so much, dearest one. Peace* 💜💗💜

I’m so addicted to your stories , I really like how as your telling the story you stop and show tombstones of others . Makes it so interesting to wonder about the lives of others and also how short life span was in the 1800s . Thank you

Actually a few people did live to a ripe old age! I have a Great-Great-Grandmotger who was born in 1812 and died in 1902! She had 13 children , 10 if whom survived into adulthood! She became a widow in her early 40's when a free fell and killed her husband on their farm. She trucked vegetables and fruits to keep the family going! That company still exists in 2022! She had some great Swiss genes! Hope I have them too! 🥰

Great work! I found an old newspaper article from the Sausalito News, February 8, 1889. It states that Lucy paid $200,000 (!) for the monument, and that the four figures represent Commerce, Finance, Banking, and Railroading. (An online inflation calculator says that $200,000 in 1872 is equal to $4,800,000 today. Seems like you could get something much bigger for $4,800,000, but it was extravagantly expensive for the day regardless.)
