Unholy Alliance I am going to specifically going to point out the flaws. First off, the dating is wrong. You said this all occured 1500 years before Christ. According to available sources (which by the way, also includes popular google searches. www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=when%20did%20mithra%20start), Mithranism cannot be dated earlier than the end of the first century AD and even the Pompeii ruins have not produced a single image of this god. (M. J. Vermaseran, a specialist in the cult of Mithra. Mithras: The Secret God. (Londone: Chatto and Windus, 1963) The Christians according to this dating, influenced Mithranism rather than vice versa. Dr. Erwin Lutzer says: The cult of Mithras was continually evolving, adapting itself to the needs of a particular group or culture. Understandably, this religion can be interpreteted in a variety of ways, and its teachings are difficult to pin down. What seems most probable is that the specific myths about Mithras' miraculous birth and becoming a 'savior god' were modeled after Christianity came to Rome in the first century.
